Jade tree getting too big to fit through doors...
Comments (16)Ralleia, Hello fellow Omahan! Looks like you should be a member of our local C&S club! That's a massive Jade for sure. I keep mine small by not moving them up to bigger pots for the same reason - small house, not enough room for a "tree". They'll stay compact and smallish if you keep them pruned back and in a smaller pot. Is yours a hugely branched single trunk? If there are a whole lot of smaller plants in the same pot, I'd remove all the smallest ones and go back to a single-trunked plant. You'd end up with a smaller plant, smaller pot, and something more manageable, and lots to give away. (I have a neighbor who asks for plant donations every year in the fall for a festival at Holy Cross... another idea of how to get rid of the excess...) Once you do this, you can shape it up and keep it a reasonable size by some yearly strategic pruing of both foliage and roots. Denise in Omaha (too)...See MoreSofa Size vs. Doorway Width
Comments (1)36" wide is plenty for most all modern sofas, assuming there are no obstacles either side of the door preventing the sofa from being angled-in. One cannot tell from measurements if it fits, it takes an experienced eye. BTW, I can beat Lexington Furniture prices on H&M. Duane Collie The Keeping Room...See MoreOh No! Will Appliances Fit Through My Doors?
Comments (11)We have 36" exterior doors, and there was no trouble bringing our new french door fridge into the house and parking it in the dining room. But after we got the spot ready for it in the kitchen, it took removing both doors on the fridge, and the molding around the two doorways of the kitchen. At that time, we had only ourselves to do the work, and we were quite exhausted when we got it in its new home. We also purchased a heavy duty front loading and stacked washer dryer unit with only ONE plug in. We had to take the back door off its hinges to get the unit inside, because the door would not go back far enough to clear that extra inch of space we needed. But once that was done, an easy fix, we had the two delivery guys set it up inside for us. The next thing which we are going to enjoy doing is bringing inside the clawfoot slipper tub. Interior doors are not 36" generally, and I think our widest interior door is 32" with the door removed. If we can get the contractor/plumber to do the moving, it should be wiggled into the back door, through the kitchen door, through the archway from the dining room into the hall, through the doorway of the back/master bedroom, and then through the doorway of the master bath into the alcove where it will hopefully remain for the rest of its useful life! It lends new meaning to building the house around something that will never never be removed--in one piece at least....See MoreSleeper sofa to fit through 29” door to basement
Comments (5)The American Upholstery sofas sold by Room & Board have the back come off and it breaks into much smaller pieces. We got one up and down the stairs in a pretty narrow row house. I think ours is the Berin model. Not sure if it goes specifically down to 29", but i'm sure if you called Room and Board they could provide guidance. American Upholstery pull outs are also notoriously the most comfortable bed/sofa combos. It is used in our playroom/guestroom, and i also like it because i wash the cushion covers in the machine all the time (and line dry) and they come out perfect....See Moregreenpond
