Trim it back and start new plants with the cuttings, or give them away to friends. You might consider making a topiary or bonsai out of the big one.

I have one 4 feet tall with container and it is in a tera container, heavy, heavy. No wind can turn it over. Cut, cut many branches, shape it nicely and you will be so happy after and you will ask yourself; Oh my God why I did not prune it before it looks so nice. Picture some shaggy, hairy man with long uncut hair and beard never combed or shampooed , and then picture the same man when His hair and beard are nicely trimmed, styled, a completely different man. The same applies to your jade. I apologize if I offended your lovely jade, but your jade is going to look sooooooo pretty if you trim it., and you will be able to maneuver it so easy.

I agree prune it and give plants to friends but for sure keep it, I had a huge hoya, I took cuttings for new smaller plant and I soooooooooo regreted getting rid of it. Your little one is a cutie.....the jade is very nice keep it...thanks for posting pics.

You should prune to make it look nice....but in addition put that sucker on some rollers

Hello fellow Omahan! Looks like you should be a member of our local C&S club! That's a massive Jade for sure. I keep mine small by not moving them up to bigger pots for the same reason - small house, not enough room for a "tree". They'll stay compact and smallish if you keep them pruned back and in a smaller pot. Is yours a hugely branched single trunk? If there are a whole lot of smaller plants in the same pot, I'd remove all the smallest ones and go back to a single-trunked plant. You'd end up with a smaller plant, smaller pot, and something more manageable, and lots to give away. (I have a neighbor who asks for plant donations every year in the fall for a festival at Holy Cross... another idea of how to get rid of the excess...) Once you do this, you can shape it up and keep it a reasonable size by some yearly strategic pruing of both foliage and roots.

I don't have the courage or know-how to drastically prune it, though I could do some less drastic trimming.

Unfortunately, a decade ago I read a description that jade trees never need to be pruned, so I never did. Even so, I still like the shape of this one, and the trunks seem quite strong. It gets sufficient light from the southern windows, exercise by getting bumped into and shoved around, and of course long, hot Omaha summers with plenty of wind!

Ralleia..I'd keep it as is..it's truly beautiful..The Christmas tree pic is amazing..so cozy..
Unless it's impossible lugging outdoors in summer, I'd leave it be..
I bought a dolly at Home Depot last year to set out heavy plants..Just set on the ledge of dolly and roll outside..It's much easier than lifting..Unless you have stairs, it'll roll easy enough. Good luck and again, your Jade is beautiful..Toni
PS..as for getting through a doorway, what about tying/roping branches (carefully)? so your Jade will slip through without breaking?

Cut off drooping or dangling branches.
Just go a little at a time. The plant
will thank you for it.

Jades never "need" to be pruned in nature
because goats and other animals nibble and
prune them periodically.

If this is an option that you're seriously willing to consider for the house, it's a definite plus in helping to care for the jade. ;)

Ive seen plant stands on wheels. You could always roll it around.

I would at the very least trim all the droopy branches and shape it up a bit. You can trim a few inches off those branches if you want to reduce the size. You and your plant will be much happier. It will take some of the weight off and be healthier in the long run. Give it as much sun indoors as you can. If you decide to trim it and bring it outside, acclimate to sun
"SLOWLY", as not to sunburn your leaves.
