Jade tree getting too big to fit through doors...

I have a decade-old jade tree. Since we live in zone 5 it spends summers outdoors and the winters next to a southern window.

It is getting too big to manage however. It is now 3 feet in diameter, and including the pot it is 4 feet tall. We have a small house, and it is difficult to get around the plant to the office when it is inside for the winter. Getting it through the door is also a challenge, though of course it shrugs off damage from leaves and branches lost in the process.

It is a gorgeous plant, and I am loathe to part with it.

Does anyone have alternative ideas on how to deal with this?

-Keep a piece of the original plant and donate the mammoth to some place that will appreciate and not kill it with overwatering?

-Knock out the south wall of the living room and build a sun space with double doors?

-Somehow form the plant into a non-spherical shape that will be easier to manage?

I assume that since it is a jade "tree" it has no intention of stopping the claim of addition territory...
