help help! where should we make the opening for the washer?
Comments (0)we are smack dab in the middle of a major kitchen, mudd and bathroom remodel. our current question relates to the mudd room, specifically the hoses from our FL washer unit to the wall where water supply and drain will be (see pics). I need help! where on the cabinet should we place a 3+ inch hole in the cabinet. the cabinet will be holding be a 22" W by a 9.5" Deep sink in a 24" cabinet the front loader washer and front loader dryer? Concern#1: we are placing a sink in the cabinet that is 9.5 inches deep and 22 inches wide....will there be enough room for both hot and cold water hoses and drain hose not to get kinked? Concern#2: should the drain hose (where water leaves the pipe) be higher or lower as the water empties into the drain? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks https://picasaweb.google.com/118152884350973182660/20111024?authkey=Gv1sRgCNm9k4StyYTxGA#5667268765980883282 https://picasaweb.google.com/118152884350973182660/20111024?authkey=Gv1sRgCNm9k4StyYTxGA#5667268771020762258 https://picasaweb.google.com/118152884350973182660/20111024?authkey=Gv1sRgCNm9k4StyYTxGA#5667268777656831714 https://picasaweb.google.com/118152884350973182660/20111024?authkey=Gv1sRgCNm9k4StyYTxGA#5667268784770526850...See MoreHELP! where should we make the opening for the washer?
Comments (2)Hey randy427! Thx for your response. We ended up cutting a small "u" figure in the upper back side of the cabinet and the hoses sit in the groove of the "u" which I still have to line w something o the water lines/tubing doesnt rub against the wood. We ended up having plenty of room thank goodness. I will pos pics so other folks my learn this also. Comments (16)CEF, even dumping $300,000 into our house, we would have to spend more than twice that to get what we want elsewhere. It is expensive in my neck of the woods! We are in an awesome neighborhood, with great neighbors, amazing school system (to stay in this school system we would have to pay double AND remodel) and we are very close to metro, shops, DC etc. we love our house and we want to make it ours! Our kitchen will only be about 120 sq ft. Same size. The four of us fit here perfectly. :) I hate needing lights during daylight hours so lots of natural light appeals to me. we also have a very nice back yard and look forward to the views. I used to really like separation. Now, I like a little, with some more open spaces. Our living area is actually large compared to the rest of the house. Just because you open it up doesn't mean you will lose the other spaces. I think it really depends on how you want to live your life in your home. What is important to you won't be important to others. I think if you live your personal life in a way where you are always saying "gosh, I wish this were more open so that I could (fill in the blank)" then I think it you should really consider it. I don't think you need a huge house to make yours more open. JMHO. I am considering posting updates on the small house forum....See Morehow to maintain a fence and what color should we make it?
Comments (8)Thanks to both of you! I did some more searching. What is the deal with these fence cleaners? If I read between the lines of the reviews, it sounds like they are usually ineffective, or consist of bleach (we are planning on doing landscaping soon, so I wouldn't want to compromise the soil by using bleach). Am I getting that correct? Does anyone have positive experiences with fence cleaners? Also - thanks yardvaark! It is good to know what kind of paint works best. I always thought stain would last longer than paint - good to know....See More- 19 years ago
