ID this meat?

Yesterday, I bought some good looking meat. But I'm not sure what it is, lol. I swear, they just name this stuff whatever they want, right?

Anyway, here's what the label said:

BF CH CHK CNTRY STYFP BL

I don't buy a lot of beef, but these long hunky strips looked good!!! Not sure what we'll do with them.

Anyone have any ideas?

beef ?? chuck country style ?? boneless

At least that is what my guess would be..... LOL!

Since it is strips, I wonder if the meat is boneless short ribs. I haven't bought them but I have seen them in our grocery stores.

Well, these are hard to find, but I just ordered this one: ChefAlarm by ThermoWorks - (Black) Sold by ThermoWorks If you have experience with it, please let me know. The reviews were all good on Amazon. It's not cheap, but if I can set my own times instead of preset ones, I'm happy, and this doesn't have all those taste settings.

Dark meat absolutely, and how disheartening that so many people are also preferring it these days. Darn! I don't care how well the white meat is cooked, it's sadly lacking in flavor. I make a good gravy, so I'll eat it as a vehicle for the gravy, including as a roast turkey sandwich. My favorite chicken salad is actually made with leftover turkey moistened with pan drippings kept for that purpose, and some of that meat can be white if I'm not able to send it all home with guests. Btw, Fawnridge, I once hopefully purchased a skinless, boneless turkey breast. My husband ate a bunch of it sliced in sandwiches loaded up with mayo for flavor, but I threw the rest of it away. I may never purchase a breast alone again, but if I do it'll be skin on and bones in for their flavor and moisture, and to create drippings for additional flavor after cooking.

I'm going to be passing by the gourmet store tomorrow anyway, and I was going to stop anyway. I have to go into the city for another reason, for a meeting with a financial advisor. And I might even keep some of the goodies for myself. And being an academic, I love a good research project!! Plus I am a frugal, "caveat emptor" kind of gal so I often so a lot of research ahead of time to avoid wasting my money on a purchase. Does not mean I'm not open to wonderful spur of the moment finds! Normally I wouldn't overthink it too much, but the folks I am giving this to are totally into this kind of thing, the husband majored in hotel and restaurant management and is into the minutia of foods and wine big time . . . Edited to add that rosemary almonds sound fab, I might make some if I ever get around to it. I can also make my own crackers, but I haven't in a while. If you haven't done it, home made crackers are great! Edited to ad . . . Dried Meats And Jerky

Surprisingly to me, I’m not finding reference to dried fish jerky in traditional cuisine. Dried fish, sure, in island and other cultures, but it is cooked before eating. Smoked fish is traditional too; I guess that qualifies as jerky using my definition, but I don’t have a smoker. I see plenty of recipes for salmon jerky and pork jerky; time to find the dehydrator and try some! I used to dehydrate fruit to chewy snackage, for backpacking. Hmm, suppose I make a sort of thin lamination with pounded pork and thin sliced apple, and jerky those together? Oooo, how about shrimp jerky? It’s gonna be a long winter . . . plenty of time to make inedibly but indelibly interesting food.

~ Cut up into 1-2" cubes and make a beef stew with potatoes, carrots, onions, celery

~ Cook as is in a crock pot, pressure cooker, or oven roaster (covered) with taco seasoning and tomatoes or salsa for Tex-Mex dishes

~ Cook as is with chopped onion, chopped celery, a can of tomatoes, a package of dry spaghetti seasoning and 1 cup of Coke or Pepsi to make Secret Ingredient stewed beef over rice or noodles

~ Dice up and add to a recipe of chili instead of ground beef

~ Dice up and cook in beef gravy then use to make Shepherd's Pie.

The "F" is a typo on the label. I think it's supposed to be "STYSP" for "style strips".

Just a guess. I thought it was a game! LOL

LOL Linda, you're funny. I figured the Beef Choice Chuck Country Style but I thought the FP might be for.... flank portion. Smiles. It was a fun game though, eh? Even if people didn't know they were playin. LOL..

I would probably mix together a jar of bbq sauce and a can of beer. Put the meat in a crockpot and pour the sauce over it. Cook on low all day. Serve over noodles or rice.
If you have leftovers, you can make pulled "pork" by adding more bbq sauce.
