Am asking if corn can be burned in a 61a stove at 50/50 or less mixture and if so does it cause any major problem with stove operating correctly? would appreciate comments from people with on hands experiance with that stove; also is cleanup of the vent pipe needed more than once per season if stove is operated in basement area and vented up and out and if its recommended to have cold air pipe installed

Pellethead- thanks for the response. Here's what I've determined happened: I was doing some remodeling work in the room beside the room with the stove. I think that the floor vibrated and the stove "walked" just enough to create some small gaps in the silicone sealing the pipe joints. When the stove started up, the excess smoke in the firebox leaked out and was then picked up by the air intake and blasted through the room. I cleaned out the burnpot and the ignitor chamber and start ups have been fine and I've re-sealed the vent pipes. My sealing job isn't the prettiest, but it'll last until summer when I can really disassemble and reassemble everything. I also cleaned out the vent pipe, but there was little to no ash in it. I'm still really impressed with the stove- we've been using it all winter to heat our 2000sf uninsulated farmhouse and it's been doing a good job.

Thanks for you post. Yeah I figured that the P68 would be a better bet. My husband is concerned it will be too much heat though. I am thankful to have found a great dealer. He is coming on Saturday to give us some estimates as well as advise us what unit would better fit for us.

The feed rate setting on Harman pellet stoves is based on a 60 second cycle. When the stove has a demand for heat based on your "Room Temp" setting of 74* and is 3* below the setpoint the stove will initially run the augar on a 60 second cycle, feed rate of 4 means the augar will run for 40 seconds, idle for 20 seconds. This continues until the temp being registered by the room sensor approaches the temp setpoint on the stove, before the temp over shoots the target setpoint the circuit board over rides the initial feed cycle and starts to maintain the heat output by running the augar only to keep the room temp satisfied. When the room temp is satisfied the stove will run the augar approx. 7 seconds every minute to keep fuel in the burnpot. If you are running your stove in "Auto" with self ignition the stove will shutoff when it can not maintain a temp within 3* (77*)of your setpoint. Mostly on warmer days in the spring and fall. Having the feed rate set to low will not allow the stove to bring the room temp up in a reasonable amount of time, thus it will take much longer to achieve a setpoint with a feed rate of 2 because the augar will only cycle fuel for 20 seconds and sit idle for 40 seconds. You can potentially consume more fuel with a low feed rate setting, because you limit the max BTU output of the stove.
