Mystery ingredient solved...

Reading the recent marinade thread I saw Wizards recipe for Backwoods Flank Steak and there was pickapeppa sauce, I now know why I bought that bottle of sauce thats been sitting in the pantry for a few months! I have copied and pasted the recipe this time.

Now I'm trying to remember why I have 2 cans of Imperial Dragon coconut milk in there! Probably to try a curry recipe, even though I've never made curry before.

Any one else have mystery items in their pantry?

I have (had) some Tahini Paste (sesame seed paste) in my pantry.
I actually made so Hummus and it was really good.

Here's the recipe:
1 can (15ozs) chickpeas
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup tahini
1/4 cup chopped yellow onion
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tsp extra-virgin olive oil
2 tsp ground cumin
1/8 tsp ground red pepper
1/2 tsp salt
Chopped fresh parsley

Drain the chickpeas, reserving 1/4 -1/2 cup of the liquid
Combine the chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, onion, garlic, oil, cumin, parsley, pepper and salt in a blender or food processor. Puree until smooth, adding the chickpea liquid if needed to thin the puree. Refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours before serving to blend the flavors.

Serve with veggies.

I'm glad you solved your mystery, maybe there is hope for me.

I bought about 4 ingredients (can't remember 'cause they got scattered) for a recipe (rub, I think) that obviously sounded good at the time. Spike All Purpose Original Magic (never heard of it before)
Whole black pepper
Fennel seed

Well that's a cool way to find that long lost pear. Winter Nellis is sometimes used as rootstock. In the growers nursery row, the Seckle bud didn't take, so they let the Winter Nellis rootstock be harvested.

I was taught to spoon flour if I wasn't going to sift it... in home ec class in 1997! So I've always done it and I can't make most cookies (snicker doodles never get me trouble, but oatmeal and chocolate chop are awful!) My cookes get really thin and stick to the parchment.... I tried to make carrot cake cookies for the last sit and sew I attended and they did that... they were a disaster... (not to mentoon the same day I dropped my beloved vintage food processor that my grandmother gave me when I was 16 on the floor and broke it to smithereens.... had to spend 50 bucks and buy the same one on Ebay because I loved it so much)... I was so upset with two disasters in the same day I went to the grocery store and brought a pound cake for my contribution that night! Anyway, I was talking to the ladies at the sit and sew and one of them said that I probably didn't use enough flour... so from now on I will scoop instead of spoon!

If your dog didn't pick up anything, try S-T-R-E-S-S. You know, rashes are tricky ;) Does it look like chunky dandruff? I recall when I went away (2 weeks), and came back and my dog's almost entire body was covered with this scaly dandruff. I thought it was from being allergic to stitches (She had a minor growth taken off her back, just before I left)because that's where the 'dandruff' started... The irony was that I saw a tiny area of 'dandruff' starting before I left. When I got back she was covered. The poor baby started stressing BEFORE I left. She was soooo smart. I purchased a new suitcase and placed it in the spare room. She knew what the suitcase meant and started stressing that I was going to leave her. When I got back she was a mess. Anywhoo, the vet placed her on some awful shampoo with charcoal , I think. I really had to work it in. She didn't care for it. After 3 washes it was gone. I don't recall if she got a shot of a steroid, but maybe she did. Most dogs do. Give her lots of love , attention, and extra kisses ;) While waiting for your vet appointment,if you are really in hurry to relieve her itch,you can use Aveeno (BLUE TOP is the best. Aveeno has many products, so be careful which one you pick up. It's confusing) ) BATH AND SHOWER OIL. No matter what she has it won't hurt her. It relieves itches. People use it. I have a bottle at home for all kinds of doggie remedies. Work the the Aveeno in for 5 min or so. Rinse 75% of it off. Leave a film of it on. That will keep her skin moist. Let us know how you make out.

YummOOOOO! I have made this several times! velveeta fudge I cut the recipe in half and use a square pyrex dish Spray a 9 x 13 inch cake pan with PAM (imitation cooking spray) 1/2 pound Velveeta 1/2 pound butter 1/2 Tbsp. vanilla 1 2lb. bag of powdered sugar 1/2 cup cocoa powder Nuts, if desired I like it with nuts Melt Velveeta and butter on top of stove (preferrably in a pan. Velveeta is shapely but it won't stay together when heat is applied). When melting is done, pour in remaining ingredients and mix using a hand mixer. Pour into pan and chill.

Whew! I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that has mysteries in my pantry! LOL

Things I have that I can't remember what I bought them for:

Thai Chili Paste
Spring roll Wrappers
A can of clams
Tomatillos

I am sure there are others, but I am not home to take another look!

I must have printed out that chili sauce/grape jelly recipe for meatballs or little smokies at least three times over the years because I have three bottles of chili sauce and three jars of grape jelly in the pantry, none of which has even been touched.

Lindaluu2, I have Tahini paste too that I haven't used thanks for the recipe.
I also have fish sauce.. never used. I want to try new things and remember some of the ingredients when I go shopping but end up putting them in the pantry and then foget about them.

Yes, I hate it when i do that. I've have a bottle of marinated mushrooms I've had for a year or two and don't remember what I was going to do with them.

I love SPIKE! They have a low salt version which I'm looking for but haven't found yet, I'm sure its on-line but I'm also sure that sooner or later I'll find it in the market. My favorite use is to mix it in cottage cheese with chopped carrot and cucumber, seems like a summer thing. I find it to be a very bright and flavorful flavor combo.
