I tried the "Montreal" melon about 10 years ago, received it mail order from a company in Canada. Melons as a rule do poorly here; too little heat in Summer, and too short a season. "Montreal", however, managed to ripen a few... and that was direct seeded, transplants would have done better. They are pretty large, and the vines produce a good set; but the green flesh is not as thick as we are used to. Good flavor, though. It was my intent to save seed, but I grew a mis-labeled cucumber that year which turned out to be Armenian cucumber... which is a melon, and will cross with "Montreal". They were directly adjacent, so the seed from both could not be saved. :-( When I tried to order more the next year, the supplier said they could no longer ship to the U.S. Good as I thought it was, that description by KGS is a little over the top, IMO. I wouldn't mind growing it again, so I may order some seed as well.

Even in Portland, Oregon, Peace suffers from black spot, and the summer climate there is dry and not conducive to black spot. Generally, it's managable there, though, and there are some really gorgeous plantings (it is the only hybrid tea I care much for). After WWII, Peace was planted in parking strips along blocks of streets. I remember them as a kid-- it was stunning. There are still a few of those left, but most of them have vanished. Here in the humid east (and this has been a very humid summer), pretty as it is, I don't even understand why it is sold. Several nurseries here even sell it, though it is not hardy in zone 4. I have yet to see a surviving bush in our area. Dayle Ann

One vendor can sell a PL Red Brandywine and that is fine ***** I don't know about that. Mike Dunton at Victory and Chuck Wyatt at his site , and I can't remember the other places, all got PL Red Brandywine from Seeds by design in CA at one point in time. And when they found out about it they stopped selling it and got true RB. If you're talking about the situation at TGS that's a different story. The two varieties Linda lists, a PL and an RL Red Brandywine were not part of that same distribution list. And believe you me I've asked Linda many times to just come right out and say that neither are Red Brandywine. But she says that many folks bought them as they were named so she feels she should continue to offer thenm that way. I don't think anyone has said that that's fine, and I sure don't, but she did go out and get true RB from the Landis Museum and listed that, except she called it the Landis strain, which I don't agree with either, but it's her website/catalog. ( smile) As it is, Tom Hauch got RB out of the Yearbook and sent seeds to Steve Miller at the Landis Museum, so those Landis seeds are the same as all others who offer true RB. It's never right/fine in my mind to be offering wrong varieties and right now a couple of places are still offering a Watermelon Beefsteak PL, which is wrong and those seeds came from Seeds by Design as well, and both places know they're offering the wrong WB, but again, it's up to them to make the change and I don't consider that situation fine, either. First off very good that you came here and asked us before you jumped in and got any programs, that is definitely the best way to go, and I applaud you for that. If you had WOT web of trust installed on your pc you would not have to be asking that question however, googling spyzooka their homepage was the one at the top, every thing around it was flagged bright RED by WOT and McAfee site advisor, WOT has that site totally blocked I can not even access it that is how bad it is. Personally I don't need anything more that that to tell me to run from it. Also after doing some looking I found that sypzooka has been listed on the rogue-software list at spywarewarrior, that in itself would keep me away from it, any program or company that has been on his rogue list at any time would not go on my machines even if it became delisted because the fact was at one time it was a rogue, I simply do not trust them to change. And when going to this page which is supposed to be an advertisement for some spyware programs http://ttreviews.info/ IT IS ALSO RED FLAGGED so I would not go there! and the others that are advertised there along with spyzooka are all known rogue spyware programs. And several of the MVP's have said in forums it is not a suggested program since it has been on the rogue list. I agree with Owbist here, when you have an incredible program like malwarebytes antimalware that you can get free or if you want it to run real time and give more options pay the paltry fee for it for life! and have a good excellent program that is used daily in all the support forums. Or superantispyware which is free or pay, it is also an excellent program. My test of what I can depend on is to visit the support forums and see the tools and programs they are using on a daily basis to fight the good fight against malware. If those people use it I know it is good period. And I urge everyone if you use these excellent free programs please consider a donation no matter how small to support and thank them for being considerate enough to offer their hard work to us for free.
