I am having the same problem , i know my husband for 7 years but married a year and half my son was 7 when we met, he decided to call him daddy but he was okay and he started treating my son badly, i left in 2019 for him to get help, he did and we got married in 2020 he was good to my son in the entire 2020 till our marriage in dec 2020 my son got on very well with him then we moved into a house he bought and then the nonsense started he shows no love and reprimands my son all the time and we have to walk on egg shells with him, he treats my son badly and says i dont shout at my son or reprimands him which i always do and give him the rope to discipline him, but nothing my son does or say is right in his eyes, i left in may 2022 and he still is picking on my son ,but even he did go for counselling but nothing has changed i cannot expose my son to this, because i choose my son all the time, and i will always, my son is 12 now, and he does not want to ever see my husband again and he said he will never ever call him dad he has damaged my child and therefore i will never go back, he is toxic and a narcissist, he has uprooted my son and my life so many times and i have had enough and i am done, i love my child too much to allow him to treat him this way, i love my husband as well, but at the end what is the sense in having a house but not a home.My son is my life and i will not allow anyone to treat him that way, i dont deny my son does things and is naughty as well, but to be treated like you always wrong is not on, my son talked about suicide as well, so that we can be happy and that pushed me over the edge,i wont lose my child to a man, i also have cancer and he is the one that is aggravating my cancer because i stress so much what is he doing to my son, we are emotionally abused by this man, he walked away from 2 marriages because of the children and by the way it way his own so there is no way he will tolerate mine. any advise for me

Demon Based on what you've said here, I think you've made the right decision. It concerns me that his reaction is to blame the child and focus on how it affects 'him'. Classic abuser behavior. I'm even a little concerned that his reaction will change from cooperative to hostile when he realizes that tactic won't work. If I were you, I'd set up a strong support system. I have a feeling you are going to need it. I also agree with silver, it's not a waste of time to learn such a valuable lesson. When I left my ex at 29, I spent years feeling sorry for myself because I wasted my 20's in a crappy situation. But, the worse part wasn't the time I wasted, it was that my kids were in that crappy situation for 7 years and you can thank your lucky stars you figured it out in less than a year. Your daughter is young and you can spend some time in counseling and might even think about working on your parenting skills too. Before, you said you were lax in discipline, so now might be a good time to shift your focus on improving things in your life. When I was a single parent, I was also too lax and inconsistent. It's so easy to parent out of guilt too. My kids were pre-teens when I began to force myself to be consistent and push the guilt to the back of my head and it's been tough. I still struggle with guilt because they know how to make me feel guilty. Good luck.

My feelings during this process were mostly guilt, for the the endless efforts others were putting forth and frustration/disappointment with myself. Each time I posted a layout I thought, now this one is it! They're gonna love it and I'm going to hear, "great flow, how creative, I love it!" My initial reaction after feedback each time was "oh sh$#", then my heart sunk, and then I got pissed off at myself.I began not even knowing I could draw in Excel, not knowing how to post a pic, not thinking about frig,prep, cook, clean. (My new mantra thanks to rhome!). I have learned so much and am forever appreciative. This move is a big change for me. Much smaller home, not as "fancy" an area. It was DH's home prior to hooking up with me. But he's already retired from being a cop (injury) and I'm going to teach another 5 years so I can reach the max pay level. This home means I'll be able to retire at 59 and play. Boat, motorhome, golf, beach. Tiny mortgage left and this remodel is my "buy in".(I'm paying) DH worries that it's a "step down" (his words) for me and wants me to be happy. I couldn't care less about the change in area because I'm a simple girl and we're all about the outside. The yard is big (for South Florida), beautiful, and private. My youngest just turned 21 and will out by the end of this year. (I'm going to NY to visit my oldest boy tomorrow!) I get to build the kitchen of my dreams. As much as I long for the days when my boys were young and yummy (it was just the three of us); I am also very much looking forward to this next stage of my life. In about 5 years I'm hoping my boys settle down and give me chubby little babies to spoil and love. My boys and I are very very close. I forget that I'm suppose to be the older one now because as far as I'm concerned, I'm still young and have endless energy. I still think of myself as my parents "baby" and they've been gone 7 years. I still miss them every day of my life. Judging from this endless diatribe of mine, there is emotion and significance attached to this process for me. It represents what I hope the rest of my life to be before I'm able to go be with my parents again. Geez... what a sap... sorry 'bout that! Anyway....what I meant to say was... The architect hasn't seen the 3D layout but I sent him my 2D version. He said he really liked the twp islands. His mindset seems to be to find a way to make what I want happen. It was kinda awesome... when we first met, it was myself, DH, the architect, and two contractor/helpers we think we're going to use for the stuff DH can't do himself. I stood there and said, "I want this gone over here and I want this here...". The 4 men were, "OK.. we'll do this and shore this up here, upgrade the electric coming into the house etc.". Now, ya' gotta love that! Just for "kicks" and grins; here's a pic of how the bedroom/bath with the extension will look. This area will back onto the east wall of the kitchen/dining area. USPS tracking still shows my phone pending delivery next week. I had hoped to have it for the weekend to post photos of our YoYo. No such luck. He is unbelievably cute but maybe should have been named CHEWbacca so says my husband. I don't think that I previously posted about an issue with my husband. He is fairly easy going and easy to get along with. Not long ago I did get irritated because he doesn't want to go out much anymore but I do not think I posted about it.I could be wrong?! As a rule I do not post on forums often and when I do its usually because I am upset about something and for whatever reason do not want to discuss it with IRL people. My plan when I post is to take the first few responses and thank the posters for their interest, then move on using their information/help. It never fails as it goes on that so much more gets read into a relationship/friendship and it leaves one to either ignore that response and the responder, or to defend/deny/explain. Anyhoo all is good and we love our big little guy. Thank you all.
