Beautiful color choices! Its lovely now and your girls did a great job picking the paint. Sorry your Mom doesn't like it but maybe it will grow on her. Feel for you with all those cars for a "view". I had a neighbor like that at my last house, tho his entire backyard was full of them. Finally we put those slats in the fence so I could sit out and not have to stare at the darn things. hugs, Karen

Other than the metal reclining mechanisms made in China, their are about 3 manufacturers in the US that build the reclining (power also) mechanisms. No upholstery manufacturer builds their own in the US. So everybody sources from the same manufacturers. Their is no-doubt that US built mechanisms is better than the imported (Chinese). So stay away from any upholstery manufacturer that imports their mechanisms; Berkline / Lazyboy as examples. The better quality American made mechanisms you can find in manufacturers such as Bradington-Young and Hancock-Moore. Both should use HR foam in the seats which should last about 5 years under normal use. But they the mechanisms still have a limited life of use, where as stationary upholstery doesnt have those problems.

The tile is so neutral, you can go with almost any color. The lighter colors will seem brighter in the dark space. I would find an inspiration piece and go with the colors from that...it can be an outfit you like, a plate, a pic of a room you like, a poster you'd like to hang on the wall...anything. So long as it's something you'd like to look at. Then go with it. My laundry room was inspired by a kitchen I saw on a house tour where the owner had white cabinetry and painted the little bit of wall space in heather. It was luscious, and i loved it so much that the color stuck with me....so now I have a heather colored laundry room...crazy to some, but I love it. And what the heck....it's a laundry room...why not liven it up.

I agree with Jan that maybe you should separate the two desires and just get a nursery quality chair for the nursery and find yourself something else that you like for your bedroom. By trying to combine both at a price and quality point that suits your preference, you are frustrating yourself, needlessly and, quite possibly, chasing after the impossible. I have found that real quality without a ridiculous price to be an elusive creature in this world. I have also discovered that a ridiculous price does not guarantee quality, either. I found this frustration when shopping for some quality outdoor furniture earlier this year. I wanted some quality that was real quality, not just style or name brand. I ended up buying nothing and just rearranging my ideas, expectations, and things that I already had. It was all too little for too high a price, in my opinion. Just get a nursery chair. You will not use if for very long anyway. Believe me they will last for all the time you need them, and beyond. You can even get someone to make removable covers for the nursery chairs that coordinate with the rest of the room. These chairs are prone to stains and "accidents". Having a removable cover is a real advantage. I also went furniture shopping this past year looking for some manner of repurposing a sleeping area. I found it to be quite a frustrating experience. There is so much tacky, tacky ,tacky stuff out there. I live in a fairly sophisticated and affluent metro area and I went to every suburban furniture store in the area, and found nothing that was even remotely like what I was looking for. I just want simple stuff that is well made and affordable. So much of what I saw is definitely a matter of style over substance or quality. And, the style is awful and tacky. So, where does that leave the substance? Bad, really, really bad. I find a lack of quality to be had in many consumer items anymore. It seems that they are really cheap and cheaply made, or they are expensive with no real guarantee of quality. That is one reason that I try to live with as little as possible and keep my life simple. I find so much of what is available to be not desirable to me. Jan has offered you some valuable advice.
