Tracy, Actually, all my DH did was phone a few of our firefighters and ask "do you want to go". In fact, more wanted to go than he needed but we couldn't let them all go and leave our area unprotected, so three firefighters went, and others were sort of penciled in to go today or tomorrow if needed. Apparently, unless something happens, they won't be needed. Fire containment was estimated at 40% yesterday afternoon, and our guys who just came back said it now is at about 80-85% containment. Of course, with the way the wind is blowing, that could change. Our DS took a day off from his professional firefighting job to go fight the Medicine Park fire as a volunteer firefighter, and the other two guys either had just gotten off work or took off from work to go. DH was going to go tomorrow if needed, but I don't think they need us to send anyone today or tomorrow, so he's really disappointed. (Once they get firefighting in their blood, they are obsessed with it and hate to miss a big fire.) I have a correction on the fire location. The guys who just returned said 4 Mile Road is east of the fire area, and that the fire was west of 58 and west of 4 mile road. It was dark, and they said they couldn't see any houses in the dark so couldn't verify if the log cabin is still standing. It was still dark when they left to drive home. I hope this info is helpful. You know, if the Lawton Constitution or one of the local TV stations has stories posted that have comment sections enabled, you might try posting a question in the comment section to see if a local resident will see it and respond to tell you for sure which area burnt and which didn't. Or, you might try Google Maps or even inciweb.com. Sometimes they have more specific location information. Dawn

1) When you're hungry and wanting a snack, are you more likely to crave a sweet or salty/spicy snack? if it's the daytime, something salty/spicy... late at night after dinner, then usually something sweet. 2) The 3 junk-type foods that are hardest for you to resist: doritos LOVE tostitos with either a good con queso dip or guacomole-i can eat many calories with those! chewy candy--swedish fish, twizzlers, gummy lifesaves, etc. or peppermint patties. 3) Complete the following sentence: Do NOT bring any ________ into this house, because I can (will?) personally eat all of it . . . or at least waaay too much! i'm really good if it's in the house UNOPENED! lol. i usually can resist opening something, but once it's open, forget it-usually doritos, etc. 4) Although you may not eat at fast food restaurants a lot, what are your 3 favorite yummy-but-not-very-good-for you foods and from where? i really hardly ever eat fast food, but if i do i tend to order the 'wraps'... mcdonalds have them and wendy's have the chicken caeser wraps which i'll eat. i'm not big into burgers and only like the fries if they're HOT and CRISPY, which is often so hit and miss that i don't bother! 5) At nicer restaurants, what 2 or 3 foods do you have to force yourself not to order? i'll often pass on the french onion soup and choose something healthier even though i LOVE a good french onion soup crock with melted cheese and crusty bread!! i love all pastas, but will steer away sometimes to order something lighter. i love a really good carrot cake and if i see someplace has one that looks REALLY good, it's hard to pass! 6) Favorite comfort foods at home that are (sigh!) yummy but fat and/or calories-wise not that great for you or your waistline? i love making/eating pasta carbonara, but only do so occasionally. love creamy soups---buying fat free half and half makes me feels better but they still often have butter...(currently have broccoli and cheese soup leftover in the fridge--YUM!!) LOVE fruit pies/cobblers. 7) Favorite drink that you wish was "no calorie"? sweet drinks like margaritas sweet wines, like white zinfandel-love it! love chocolate coffee creamers---would be great if they were 0 calorie and still tasted great!! 8) What are 3 of your favorite "more healthful foods" to (try and) fall back on when the cravings hit? i guess popcorn is better than chips, but i usually don't really fall back on it... i buy those mini flavored rice cakes and feel better about those! i often will order fish or salad in restaurants- to either avoid fat or increase my veggie consumption! will order sorbet at the end of a meal when i'm really craving a dessert, but don't want the calories. 9) Favorite more healthful drinks? peppermint tea (with honey), icewater.

Serena, I got the recipe from Linda Lou at Harvest and the grandkids just loved it. I used cherry koolaid, and then I ran out of zucchini. THis year I intend to try the pineapple juice version, it's gotta be healthier a little, although it has the same amount of sugar. Zucchini Candy 10 cups peeled diced zucchini 1/2 inch cubes ( I use "worms" about 3 inches long and 1/12 inch thick and wide. The little dice would be good in muffins, though. 3 cups water 2 pkgs. unsweetened Koolaid 2 1/2 cups sugar Peel zucchini, dice or slice, removing seeds. Mix the liquid syrup together. Add zucchini. Bring to a boil and them simmer for 25 min. Drain. Put on dehydrator trays. Dry 14 hours at 125 degrees. Turn pieces over and dry another 4 hours. This will feel dry and not sticky when done. Store in jars or other tightly sealed containers. If you dip in sugar when you turn them, they will be more like "gum drops" on the outside. You can do the same thing with the zucchini but use 48 oz. pineapple juice, 2 T. pineapple extract, 2 1/2 cups sugar 1/4 cup lemon juice. Annie

I not only have GERD, I have Barrett's. I've learned to - not go to bed until about 3 hours after I've eaten - even a small snack will get the gastric acid going. I have the head of my bed elevated, and also sleep on a wedge-shaped pillow, and then two others - almost sitting up at first, then later in the night I sometimes pull out the wedge pillow. No big heavy meals - small frequent meals. No caffeine, chocolate (ok, maybe sometimes), no peppermint, no "hot" spicy foods - - ever. I drink only decaf liquids. (All that stuff interferes with the upper stomach sphincter allowing acid to reflux). Losing weight would probably help me - keep meaning to try that! I also have a gastroenterologist, have endoscopies done every 2 years, and am on a prescription med - Tums and the like don't even begin to cut it. Not fun, but neither is acid reflux at 2 a.m.!
