No, he didn't get the position because it was going to be a new position and the budget was not approved, however the same type of position is available in Harris county, which he just applied for yesterday. Thank you all, my dear, dear friends. Yesterday we had one of those days here at our house -- no water for 36 hours, Freya sneaking a pizza off the kitchen counter, and the smell of fresh polyurethane pervading the cold, damp house.... On the other hand, I had the loving affection of Tom and my DS Jacob, calls and cards from family, and greetings from all of you. And tonight we're going out to dinner to try celebrate again. Carla, Luanne, Jon, Anita, Lori, Ingrid, Sue, Carolina, Pamela, and Carol -- each one of your messages brought smiles and memories to my mind. I just realized that with the exception of Ingrid, I know each one of you in the Real World (as opposed to online) -- Ingrid, we'll just have to correct that soon. Thank you for the birthday wishes. We usually don't make a big deal out of birthdays in our family. Wednesdays are my regular day off from work so DH and I headed out to the scrapyard with a truckload of metal from our recently departed stove. Then we went to lunch at a Greek restaurant where we both had deliciously prepared lavraki (bronzini) - mine grilled and his cooked in a clay pot with tomatoes, parsley and pine nuts. On the way home we stopped at a car dealership for DH to finalize the paperwork for a new car he ordered for me and should arrive in a few weeks! So it was definitely one of my more exciting birthdays.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. Ded, we lost so many big trees that fell on the power lines during Sandy that we only lost power sporadically this time. Hope yours will be back on soon.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. We don't usually celebrate birthdays in a big way so I don't have anything special planned for today, other than watching the snow fall and not driving anywhere.

DH went out for a walk at the park this morning and came home with a pound of MD crabmeat so I think we may end up having a Vitual Birthday/Valentine Dinner tonight.

Thanks again. We ended up making the menu that I had been planning for the Virtual Dinner. We had a leisurely dinner with wine and music and then went out and had a snowball fight with a bunch of our neighbors.
