My XCITE is almost identical to the new REV-600. The main difference I see between the EVO and CE is that the EVO appears to be more sturdy and the frame is solid including the bottom that sits on the floor whereas with the CE you only have legs. I believe the EVO is bigger than the CE (over 7 feet long) so it does take up a lot of space. The EVO definitely gives a longer stride instead of short and choppy which we found with most of the ellipticals (except for the top of the lines or commercial ones). I believe the longer stride equates to a smooth stride. My husband is over 6 ft tall and weighs over 250 lbs. so we definitely needed an elliptical that would support his frame. Also, my husband has bad knees and has had his ankle replaced so we needed a machine that would not place a lot of stress on his joints. Good luck with your decision.

I think there are good sides to both of your choices. I think that the good ellipticals are very expensive but a very good workout. People say not to bother with the ones for $3-400 dollars. They just aren't like the commercial ones. A recumbant bike can be purchased for a lot less money and seems to stand up better and you are right!! You can read and do the biking. If you are actually running on the treadmill, the bike sounds like a good option. I find when I bike on a recumbant and read that I tend to bike slower. Let us know your decision. Deanna

I enjoyed walking on one at the gym this winter. I used one that you could adjust the incline and liked that better than just a flat surface. For some reason I can walk better if I raise the front a bit (not to mention a better work out). The one I used was not one you could jog on, but still had some nice features. You could check with local gyms to see if they will be replacing any soon. You may get a good deal. beverly

Wantoretire ~ Your exercise is different than mine at this time of year. Just don't do too much, if you know what I mean. How heavy is a snowblower? Yesterday it was pretty dang warm down here and I was sweating while I worked outside, up and down a ladder with my hand clippers trimming the inside of our front hedgerow. I started getting tired and 'tripping over a blade of grass' as DH laughingly said yesterday. That was almost the truth. I finished up what I was doing and came inside. I was hungry too and no wonder it was almost noon. I had been at it since 8. I need to mow, and there is more trimming around the property to do, but that will be another day. Down here it's never ending, a 365 day a year possibility of working in gardens. This morning it is COLD here, so I was racing around before leaving for work, covering a couple of garden areas because it is supposed to go down into the 30's tonight and feel like it's in the 20's. I did bring orchids and some other things indoors, some which are in the shower. : -) Gardening is really great exercise and even though it does wear me out at times I love it. The rewards are great!
