After creating and saving a Viking Rose file (HUS) which has positions 1,2, & 3 on a 5 x 7 hoop, I transfer it to an Ultimate card. When sewing it out, positions 2 & 3 are always mis-aligned. I have a Vista operating system. I do my customising in VIP Customising (HUS) and Embird32 2010. It makes no difference from which program I save the design, it never stiches out in the proper position (2 & 3) of my 5 x 7 lapped hoop. When I used to have Windows XP and a Viking card reader box, it always worked right. The new computer does not have the old 25 pin hookup, so I cold not use the old box. Is there an adapter which will switch a 25 pin to a USB that will work, or does the Ultimate Box have a fix for this? The Ultimate Box sure does not work!!

Michigoose, you don't need any of that. The great thing about the Janome 300E is that all you need is a software that isn't expensive like Embird, (you can have a 30 day free trial), a flash card, and an adapter to fit it into your machine. I bought the same machine last october and you're going to love it. Go to any shop that sells camera and ask for the smallest compact flash card they have. Also, ask for an adapter - the person who sold you the machine shoulld be able to tell you exactly what you need - my adapter's in the machine working right now so I can't get it out to look. (e-mail me later if you need that info). That's all you need machine-side. For the computer, my printer has a port for the compact flash card - if you don't have one of those, you need to buy a reader/writer that slots into a USB port. These things are all REALLY cheap! Go to the website below and download embird. The lady who owns that site is wonderful and will help you if needed. Embird allows you to convert designs to .Jef format, resize designs, see them sewing out, change colours, etc. You save the design you like onto the flashcard, put it into the adapter, slot that into your machine and off you go. LOL I just reread what I wrote and my grammar isn't very good. LOL I had fun opening the boxes to see what Martha had sent. I knew of some of the items like the books and the dessert set and crystal and I knew she was sending me some Christmas decorations but not as many as she sent. LOL Except for the glassware I have to hoist all this stuff up to the attic tomorrow. I still have my Christmas decorations up but I think I will take them down now because the rooms look so cluttered with all this extra stuff. I can pack away the decorations with my own decorations. I'm not sure where or if I want to hang the prints yet and may wait until Spring to decide. I also have 2 stitched pieces I inherited and I just received in December so have to decide where to hang them too. I am very sentimental. My Grandma had all kinds of Royal Doulton figurines and Royal Doulton Toby Jugs and I would sit and look at them and let my imagination take me away. I would think of stories that told tales of the Balloon Lady, Ribbon Lady and the Pot Maker and the Rug Seller selling their wares in the market. I had stories of the Robin Hood and Beefeater Toby Jugs along with many others whose faces I didn't know. Grandma also had a Royal Doulton BullDog with a Union Jack on his back which represented Winston Churchill and a little white bone china dog who stood playfully looking at the ladybug on its tail. I imagined all the pretty lady figurines dancing away and their children - Hummel kids swinging on their tree branches. I drank tea from the finest china with tiny shamrocks on them and lined up the highball and shot glasses of men in their tartan kilts. Whenever I gazed upon the 2 dimensional large plates on Grandma's kitchen wall I used my fingers to cross the drawbridge and climb the steep stone palace stairs and I would stop next to the man in armour who stood guarding the palace door. I so wanted to see his face - my knight in shining armour you know. LOL My Grandma's things are priceless to me. My cousin only visited once or twice a year so has no attachment to these things and it is her right to sell them if she wishes or give them away. I can still have my memories of the things and the stories they told. LOL I was just tickled to received some of the things she did decide to part with. Anne

It's illegal to do what you propose in most cases. DIY work is limited to the owner working on his own single-family detached house. Further, you have no clue what you are doing. Electrical service is not the same as plumbing. Electrical wires aren't designed to just be willy nilly yanked on. It's not surprising it broke and likely has nothing to do with "tree roots." If you broke one of the hot conductors, you may have also broken something less detectable (like the grounded conductor). Seriously, get professional help.
