Reminds me of the scarf I crocheted that ended up about ten feet long. lol.

Here's the deal. I wouldn't order it sight unseen if you want the baby to wear the hat. I'm very particular on the softness of the material, and how much it stretches.

I'd get Newborn size.

Now the bunny hat would be DARLING for a photo shoot!

I'm not sure I would do a hat for spring. Check out the pictures on this blog - today's post (you'll have to scroll down to the nekkie baby). I'm seeing alot of these flower headbands. I can't find a pic of another one she had for her first little girl but it had a wide, crocheted look band - almost a had but very lacy/open with a large flower. Would something like that work?

Shee - scroll on down a few days through that blog and she has the most adorable gown for Hollis - with appliqued letters. I just love it! I have been following Kelly since Harper was born 2 years ago and not expected to live through the night. Rhoda had a link on her blog asking for prayers for Harper. Kelly orders a ton of stuff off Etsy for the girls. I love Etsy too. You can convo the seller and ask questions if you need to.

I think a little hat would be charming - even in spring you can have cool days and evenings, and little heads without a lot of hair can benefit.

I hope I don't offend anyone, but I HATE those headbands on babies. Cute little heads, beautiful faces, and then they spoil them with the bands and big bows, etc. The one in the link is a perfect example. I guess I am glad I had boys so I never had to deal with someone trying to put one of those on my baby. People can't really think those are cute.

Les, I hate headbands too! In fact, when my DIL was pregnant with her daughter last year, we both agreed she'd NEVER wear headbands. lol

Also, do parents even realize that a headband can actually be too tight and give the baby a headache?

My vote is for a soft soft hat. :)

LOL Les, you didn't offend me at all. I know some people don't like them.

There's no reason on earth someone can't tell that a headband is too tight. The ones Kelly uses are the very stretchy type.

Try Wild Hatters on Facebook, they have the cutest hats and will tell you what size you need. It is my daugher's company out of Anchorage. She will even do a custom hat for you!

Since the baby will be born in the Spring, why not get a cute Sun Hat, perhaps in a cotton. I found that I took my babies out in the sun more after they were four or five months old when they needed sun protection, rather than when they were newborn.

Sun hat makes much more sense! Something that can be used late spring through summer.

I don't understand those baby headbands or the big hair bows they graduate to as little girls.

Oh, I ditto the sun hats! Not only are they darling but very practical and your sister will definitely need a couple of them!

Tina, it doesn't matter how stretchy headbands are, there are times they're just uncomfortable to wear. And since a baby can't speak up, I just imagine it's me having to wear something "binding" like that without being able to say if they're comfortable or not.

I actually like some headbands but it depends on the style and the baby. This might not sound very nice but I don't think all babies look cute in hats/headbands.

A sun hat might be better because SIL does a lot of gardening but I know she did get some already.

I'll do some more searching and let you guys know what I come up with!

She also has a website on Etsy. It is called Tin Star Arts (warm options from the last frontier). They don't have all the hats posted on Tin Star, but can make almost anything!

Wanted to update quick. I went with the bunny hat above in the 0-3 size because of Easter. After asking around, she has lots of other types of hats (including sun) but not one bunny hat. I just think it's adorable and I know she'll like it.
