OK, I opened the unit and can see and smell a burn mark on the circuit board near C423 and resistors R423 and R424 (which do not look damaged at all). The burn area on the circuit board extends in the general area of these three components. The components themselves do not look damaged at all, just burn marks around the circuit board in that general area. I measured the resistance of the 2 resistors and they are both measuring the correct resistance (supposed to be 100 Ohms, they are measuring 96 Ohms and 90 Ohms) I am not sure how to check a capacitor.

I have about 55" Phillips smart tv. Model 55PFL3907/F7 SN: VM1A1213110389. I had a power outage and the tv and direct tv modem were working when the power went out. Not so much when it came back on. The TV has a pink/violet picture stuck on it which has yellow writing. Doesn't seem to be a Phillips logo just some random picture. Plus the Direct tv modem isn't working properly either. The Direct tv company is coming to check it out but I'm looking for some input in case it turns out that the problem is with the tv. Thanks for any help you can give.

PW, Thanks for replying. I am sorry about the poor description - When the TV shuts down I also lose the sound. When I begin to see a picture (after about the 7th on and off cycle) the picture fills the screen from top to bottom but is only about 2 or 3 inches wide in the center of the screen . On the next on and off cycle the picture continues to be full top to bottom and begins to get wider. On about the 10th on and off cycle the picture and sound will stay on and the picture will be full top to bottom - the width of the picture will be full on the left side of the screen but will be indented on the right side of the screen about one inch (there is also a little bit of wave on the right side of the pitcture)- after about 5 minutes the picture will finally fill out the entire TV screen. TP3285c121 smart plus series 45192579 32K8007591 When tv is turned on it has gray then light gray and then green background with thin white horizional lines about an inch apart angleing up. After about 6 seconds it cuts off. Please help.
