Okay, I'm back after perusing the posts.

(((Besh))) So sorry about your sister-in-law. How sad.

BJ, congrats on the loss. I'm not doing that per se, but now I'm just thinking ahead informally and keeping a vision of what I know I can be once again. Same thing, right?

I've been MIA for a couple of weeks, I know. I'm staying with friends at the moment in Dallas, and it's been a busy time settling in temporarily. I've missed y'all, and I feel like I'm ready to start posting once again.

So George started posting with us while I was gone, huh? Cool! Lucky Maddie that he seems to have a huge crush on her! I'll take the leftovers!

I'm happy to be back, and hope to start posting regularly once again. Have a great Monday!

Good Monday all,

Milkdud!! I have missed you girl. I am happy to see your name first here this morning. Glad you are back.

It was a good weekend with in-laws visiting. My DMIL was not her usual uptight self and our visit at my house Sunday was very nice. Naturally, Mark was on the road....again. I miss him.

No riding still. The weather has been so hot and miserable. My poor animals are getting chewed on by horse flies. The are taking big chunks of flesh and I don't know what I can do about them. We need rain so I am doing the rain dance morning and night!

Good afternoon all, Thank you SO much for the continued thoughts and prayers for SP. The hoof trimmer was out again this morning and we got SP and the rest of the herd out into the pasture. Casey was kicking up her heels in a big way (maybe to encourage SP) and SP did not do that but she went and stayed out until 2:00 pm. She has not layed down once yet today but she must be tired. She is in her stall now so I imagine a nap is in order. It is chilly (21) but sunny here today. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that this snow is way south of us. It would be great hardship for both P and me if we were to get clobbered with snow right now. DH left yesterday morning to deliver in Virginia! I could not believe he was going. He got to NJ last night and then into Maryland today before he decided to pull it over and stop. I just hope he is at a good truck stop with the anmenities....like hook up for tv for the super bowl....good lord that would upset him! I am feeling encouraged still. SP is very, very lame and it's painful to watch her walk but it's the only way for her to get better. She takes baby step when she needs to but the thing is that she is doing it and has not given up. The vet has likened her pain to having all of your fingers slammed or crushed with a vise or in a big door. We all know how that feels - that throbbing endless pain. She says it ten times worse in the feet. The hoof is very much like a fingernail. My sweet brave girl.

QOD: Youngest DD went to a friend's house to spend the night. 2nd youngest DD had a summer slumber party here-I don't know why they call it that; no one sleeps and she has a party to go to today! 15 y.o DD was out last night with 18 y.o. BF - he now has his own apartment whcih she likes to visit. She starts pilot ground school today 8-6 for the next few Saturdays and Sundays. Oldest DD got a job running projectors at the local movie house, so she was working the last couple nights till 3 a.m. w/ the "Pirates" openings? I haven't yet. Me, I'm walking dogs, watering lawns, studying philosophy, ethics, and moral obligations, topped off with a load of meteorology and LOTS of laundry and weeding! I am going to spend an hour in my office as well--cleaning! DH is taking the bar study course 24/7, so things are running smoothly around here, really. GOOD LUCK, ERICA!!! Pictures, please! You are our "SS Daily Queen" mascot EVERY DAY! Zig~ Hope the funeral was okay for you. Those things are tough, but bring people together---and that's a good thing. Dee- Good to hear you're continuing the walking, but sorry about the pain of all. Syill thinking of your co-worker and her DH... Donna~ Did you get to go out to dinner? Raeanne: The questions on the body shape quiz didn't give many options for answers. I was an hourglass too, but have never thought of myself this way---I really think I have a boy's shape, sort of squarish w/ large shoulders. I was wondering how much stock to put in that quiz. Work-outs with enough weight to cause a fair amount of resistance is a great way to prevent bone disease and just plain be healthier---so I'm foregoing the femmy looks for that. Besides, as I get older, I sort of want to look like I can kick some @ss---lol!!! As well, I have really enjoyed increasing the weight at the gym from time to time--POWER! John-cats yet? Besh-CONGRATS on the 2.6 at WW Friday!!!!!!!!! I read about you unpacking your canvas bags and had to laugh---I have the same deal after an outting! Sounds like your weekend is FULLLLLLLLL! Be good! Hi, I'm back. I have been MIA due to the wedding planning and bringing DH to Dr. appointments. I think I told you about his thyroid. After the CT scan we were told that everything looked ok, probably a goiter, but they wanted to do an ultrasound. We got a phone call from his Dr. saying come in so we could review his options. The ultrasound showed a huge mass in his thyroid, a nodule, but very large and it could start obstructing things. They also can not rule out cancer because of some other findings. He is having a biopsy in two weeks and then an appt. with a surgeon. Either way it has to come out. They just need to determine if part of his thryroid, or all of it will come out. Thyroid cancer is 100% curable so we feel good about the outcome. It has just been so upsetting and nervewracking. We did go to the Jimmy Buffett concert last night. It helped to take our mind off of things. It downpoured in the middle of the concert and ofcourse we had lawn seats so just go wet. What are you going to do? We still had a blast and he never disappoints. He performed for over 3 hours. It was a great time. QOD: My oldest DS started working when he was 15 for a Marina/Engine repair place. It lead to him going to school to because a certified marine technician and he is still currently employed by them. Prior to that he was always busy with scouts and band. He spent one summer coordinating and carrying out his Eagle project. He always seemed to keep busy. My youngest worked last summer when he was 14 for my brother's appliance business, but not this year (medical conditions forced DB not to work this summer). This summer he has been hanging out with his friends. He lifts weights and does power training for football conditioning. He has been starting to plan his Eagle project, but is basically dragging his feet and making me crazy. Next summer this boy will be working! My oldest DS informed us that he has been offered a job in Virginia at a marina and probably will be moving there the beginning of October, just after the wedding. :-( I understand it is a good opportunity for him and he has a better chance of buying a home there than he does up here, but it brakes my heart. Nobody in my entire family has ever moved away. We all live within an hour of one another, so this is very hard for me. Other than the Buffett concert last night, this week has basically s*cked! Hey Guys, Im been MIA for a few days, but super busy. I had a fair amount of catching up to do here! Lots happens around here is short amount of time! NHSuzanne~ FIRST------Happy belated B-day!!! Howd you celebrate? Sounds like you and DH are all set for winter now! I was wonderingdoes your tractor have an all-terrain mower? If so, what brand and which attachment do you use? I have a large uneven area I need to mow and was thinking of renting. Is your sis better? Does she live pretty close to you? Its nice you can see her and take care of her. I hope you get in a ride soon. I miss going to the barn so much! Bith my older DDs were riders---19 yr old DD was a Western rider and competing in games and 17 yr old was an English rider. 19 yr old DD REALLY misses it and wants to work at a barn next summer. Ill have to work on that! DeeMarie~ Congrats on your doc visit and weight loss! Everything in line? Your concert a week ago sounded fun. I love live performances of any kind. My GF is not organized and she is a hoarder---well, now she has to sell her house and move (due to divorce) and she cant seem to get rid of anything. She was supposed to have her house on the market the 2nd week in October and it still isnt on the marketbut her friends are helpless to help her---shes afraid well throw her stuff out! Sounds like everyone had a great holiday food fest! We passed our house inspection (last week) with flying colorsI was a nervous wreck about that. My interview was last week and DH and oldest DDs are on Tuesday. My youngest 3 DDs have their interviews for Wednesday. Im doubly nervous this week and Ill be glad when the application process is overwhatever the turn out! I gave up tracking food because I was getting discouraged about the small amount of weight I was losing for such a concentrated effort. When I read Marcis post about putting the scale away, I decided to try that---and get on a regular exercise plan. I have been seriously walking the track at the local "Y" several times a week. I am testing out an MP3 player at the same time! Love both the walking and the music. Its pretty neat just to have some TIME to think!---or to not think! Well see how it goes. In addition, I am skipping the neighborhood cookie bakes and holiday dinners this year. I dont need the calories and since I am moving next summer anyway, I am taking THAT end-of-the-year stress out of my life. For the WHOLE holiday season, we have one dinner planned with a friend from out of town and then were off to the island (on Dec. 21st) for the holiday and DHs mom and dad will come to the island for Christmas and the few days surrounding it. Make this week a great one!

Happy Monday and hello milkdud---good to see you here!

Today is a great day because my number was not called for jury duty. YEA!!! I love going, but not to where our courthouse is...gangland central. I have plenty to do this week without getting caught up in all that.

DH and had a good weekend working together. We bought a dishwasher and stove that will be delivered on Saturday. Took us all of 55 minutes to pick them out and arrange for delivery. I'm pleased with our choice.

The BBQ on Saturday was lots of fun, but I accepted two raspberry mojitos, so it was difficult to practice my mindful eating. Not looking back but paying more attention to real hunger today.

Hi Ivamae. Tomorrow is your check in day, is it not? Glad you got thru the oral surgery so well!

I have been up to my eyeballs in work, DS went on vacation and I had to train my daughter to fill in. She is a quick study, (not that its brain surgery or anything) and is actually a LOT neater and more organized than DS!! I am in the middle of computerizing all of my paperwork and this should make a TREMENDOUS difference in my ability to accept new patients etc, not to mention freeing up a LOT of my time. Anywhooooo....

Good WEDNESDAY Morning!

Tikanis, hope you had fun at the concert. I love both of those entertainers. Tell us all about it.

As for the appliances, once we decided on stainless steel dishwasher, we needed to match the stove..which is about 30 years old and does not heat oven properly anymore. It was a mess, so in-for-a-penny; in-for-a-pound. Our fridge is white and will be replaced with DH cleans up the basement enough to make room for it (as a spare). This fridge came from my condo, and is too small (according to DH)!

Did I ever mention that DH is thin and eats like a horse (with apologies to SweetPea). He always complains that the fridge is too small, because it does not hold enough snacks for him. I told him I pray that someday he awakens and weighs 400 pounds, and I weigh 125. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dee you lucked out on the jury duty! I don't mind going and serving either it's just my fear of getting caught up in some endless trial that I would not enjoy. How about being sequestered? Oh man that would be tough.

Tikanis - Congratulations - It is a beauty! I wish you many many happy hours paddling. Our kayaks are cousins - I also have a Wilderness System, but the cheaper recreational Pungo and it is a small 120 in comparison to yours. Glad you got it in yellow - I like the visibility it offers. So jealous about that concert - it had to be awesome.

Dee - our house has been pretty much snack free for the last few weeks and I can hear skinny DH foraging through the pantry with hopes of finding a morsel LOL. Enjoy the new appliances.

Suzanne - glad the in-law visit went well. The flies are horrible this year. We finally got a break in the humidity and I was able to open my bedroom windows last night for some fresh air, the first time in weeks.

Milkdud - good to have you back with us. I have been thinking of you often.

I am taking some evening art classes this week, so my days have been full and very long. I don't get home until 10 - just in time for bed LOL.

I'm heading out early tomorrow to go to Crosby to take care of some business, then over to see my youngest son and his family overnight. I'll be back sometime midday Friday and hope to post after taking a nap!

I can't believe it!!! I had not realized that so many soft foods have so many calories. I wouldn't have been surpised if my weight was up this morning but it wasn't. It was down 1 more pound, so now I have a tiny bit of wiggle room. Hope to gain some more of that by next week.

suzanne, I hope the horse flies have eased up. That's just awful. We had a bad case of them about a month or two ago - one of our walkers was bleeding from the neck one morning. If I'm going to be bleeding from the neck, I would rather it be from Robert Pattison!

TGIF Suzanne and everyone lurking!

QOD: tonight I'm running errands. Tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest heat-index day ever recorded in the New York City area, so I will remain indoors waiting for my dishwasher and stove to be delivered. We have a few projects that we can work on throughout the weekend that can be done indoors. Saturday or Sunday night, we are going out to dinner with DH's sister and her hubby.

Good afternoon, Dee and anyone else peeking in!

It's also very hot here in Dallas, around 97 F.!!!!!

I unloaded my car today of lots of way-too-many-hoarded things. Shame on me! I now have a catch in my back and tired arms and legs, too. Now to find a place to store my things I just couldn't live without! *sigh*

Lunch was steak gorgonzola, a huge and healthy green salad, and baked beans. Yum! Good thing it was the main meal today because I ate well of all.

Wishing everyone cool thoughts and a relaxing Saturday evening.

Good morning.

Hot here, too, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast - heat index yesterday was 108. Even so, I worked in the flower beds all day. I love being outside so much. I was hoping it would be cooler, because of the tropical system in the Gulf, but not even the slightest breeze.

Thank goodness Bonnie didn't cause much trouble. We didn't even have rain until last night and it wasn't that much.

Does anyone have Direct TV or the Starz channel? That new miniseries - The Pillars of the Earth (?) has started, and wow, is it good. Ridley Scott is one of the producers. I think it airs on Tuesday but I caught a rerun of it last night on Direct TV. Worth watching, although like scenes in the Gladiator, I had to cover my eyes over the sword/fight scenes. Lots of blood.

On that cheery note, ha, I'll stop rambling. Have a great Sunday.

Popping in to say hi! This is finals week, thank heavens! :)

Milkdud! Glad to see you post! I wondered how you've been.

Things are hot here too. At 5am on Friday morning, the heat index was 89. I did get in some gardening time this morning, and yowzia, was it muggy.

Oh, Georgiepooh, come out and see us again--we miss you. :)
