Philips TV problem with power button

Hi. I have a Philips TV - don't know the model but i might try to find out when i get home - and for some time i've been having problems with the power button. It seems to get stuck and the TV won't (can't?) be turned off. At first a nudge at the button would do the trick, but now it's permanently stuck. The TV works fine otherwise, but i don't know if this can lead to some kind of problem in the future.

Basically i'd like to know if this is a common problem - and if it has a common sollution, if i should worry, etc.

Well....does it work with the remote??

A little more information, then.
It's a 32" TV, can't be sure on the model number - the closest thing i found on the Philips Website is 32DW6558/01 - i can tell you it DOES work fine with the remote - in fact, everything works fine except it can't be turned off. I can only put it on standby with the remote (red light on LED) but when i press the power button on the TV (lower left) it stays that way, like if the button got stuck halfway out.

I have an RCA Model # 27MS3404/17 and there is a high pitched sound...I unplugged it and waited a couple of mintues to plug it in. When I did the noise came back and the TV wouldnt power on, nothing happened. I tried powering it on a couple of days ago and the noise came back on.I tried to power it on but nothing happened....Can anyone help me with this....

I have had the TV since 2005. Today, the TV would not turn on (No Picture, No Sound) and The Green Power Button Light flashes quickly twice, pauses, quickly once, pauses, then one long flash (2,1, long 1). I realize it is a code, but can't find anything online about this model. Any help would be appreciated. If possible I would like to open this baby up and fix it myself if I can. Has anyone had power problems with Magnavox 51" 51MP6200D HDTV. We had storms that made the power go on and off several times. Now when you plug in the TV we get a high pitch beeping for several seconds (sounds like a capacitor trying to charge?) then when you push the power button or use the remote the beeping sound happens again, no sound or picture, and the power button flashes green 6 long and 1 short. we tried holding the power button while plugging the tv in to reboot it, with the same results. It is under warenty but the repair people are fighting with Magnavox over mileage $$ (I dont blame them) We live way out in the county so the repair guys are 60+ miles away. Dont know when or if we will see them. Thanks for any help.

Well....look on the back of the set. The model and chassis number will be on the back. You certainly won't find it on a website.

What do you mean that the set can only be "put on standby". If the picture and sound turn off when you press "power button" on the set or the remote, it is working properly.

ALL TELEVISON sets (that have a remote) have a stand-by power supply. Which is waiting for a signal to turn on the main power supply, which in turn makes the picture and sound.
