Cindy I had my parvifolia in the rooting aquarium with bottom heat and it started to yellow and rot. I freaked out and took it out and just kept it out in the open with my orchids and made sure to keep it moist and it rooted. I would not worry too much but if you see it start to struggle try a lower humidity rooting environment. I got my plant in last years DL order and it's still pretty small but I am just glad to have it because I had been searching for that species for a while. I pin down long cuttings as well because they will root at every node and sometimes along the stem if it is covered in poting mix. I like to use that plastic covered telephone wire because I have a bunch lying around but I have used pebbles to weigh down stems and plastic twist ties in the past with good results. After the stems are well rooted they could also be cut to encourage many growth points but you would have to be sure there are sufficient roots before trying that. Mike

Whoa....15?? I thought doing high tops for my brother took a while and he is only a 10. I have made 10 pairs so far and if I ever get caught up with all the sewing alterations I want to make more socks. I have yet to doing anything with a knitted in pattern to them. Since my sock knitting has "clicked" in my head, I would really love to try a patterned pair. I just made my diabetic mother (96) a pair of 100% wool socks to sleep in. She has foot pain at night. She tells me they feel WONDERFUL!! You gotta love it.

Oh Rosie, I know what you are saying. I ended up with what we call 'naked doll syndrome'. I was making dolls faster than I could sew the clothing. I finally gave in and started purchasing clothing at the Doll Shows in Orlando. Wish you were closer. I have yards of batisse (sp) thin weight poly/cotton, bought lace by the rolls - 30 - 50 yards at a time in every color it came in, if I really liked it. I finally fell into Joyce Wolfe's fairies. Then the glass cases, mirrors and pieces of coral to sit the fairies on. Have the silk dress kits for her fairies, wings, crowns. As I got older, my dolls got smaller. Sold BIG kiln and molds for larger dolls - around 18 inches. Now I find that I have no interest in the little ones either, have turbo kiln almost brand new. Did do some decals on porcelain blank plates, dishes, cups, bowls, that's a lot of fun. Even did glass decals on tiles for behind kitchen oven, very pretty. Wish we were closer, have I got some goodies you would enjoy. Wish I could find someone in FL with your love of dolls! Hope to remain in contact with you. teacup fairies.

I think I got turned off on dolls b/c of the “can’t play w/them” rule. My grandma had a cabinet full of dolls, I wasn’t allowed within two feet of the cabinet, ha. I distinctly remember a doll dressed as a nun. I was mesmerized by it. The dolls ended up in the garbage as nobody wanted them when granny was ready to part w/them. Mom adored dolls and her fave was Roberta, a baby looking type of doll which she had in her bed til day she died. Brother threw in in the trash when she passed. I had a fake Barbie, Ken, Midget and I loved sewing outfits for them more more than playing w/dolls themselves. my fave neighbor had an incredible collection of Madame Alexander dolls which went into storage but she eventually abandoned storage and I guess dolls ended in the trash.
