Thank you for your suggestions. I ended up using brown clay and one of my tools to "dab" hair on him. I put a flattened disk on his head and then made hair strands by repeatedly dabbing the clay with the tools straight edge. I think it came out ok. I like him. I will post the pictures tomorrow sometime. I have to wait for him to finish baing and then cool before I can add his head to his body. I ill take the pics later tonight after all his glue dries and I can move him! They are adorable!!! Thanks again everyone!

Hi B. Dolls of a given height are rearely the same body shape. An 18 inch doll can be baby, toddler, child, teen or adult (lady) Each of these body shapes vary dramatically. I suggest that you buy the doll you thing your grandaughter would like and draft directly from the doll. Basic patterns can easily be tizzed with a bit of lace and gathering. Hope this helps - Peter Here is a link that might be useful: some of our dolls

It is really hard, not worth doing, you can try dyeing, but it won't take, you can try rerooting, but that takes so many hours, and only an expert can do it. Search on customizing barbie dolls, and you will find tons of how to sites.

Very nice job on the doll. What is the problem? How did you attach the hair? Ever tried needle felting?
