LOOKING for: Cookies made with cereal???

I want to get my hands on a cookie recipe that I can incorporate my favorite cereal "banana nut crunch"...I thought maybe someone had a recipe where the oats or something could be substituted ...any ideas? I checked Post Cereal site,they have many recipes but maybe one or 2 for my cereal favorite.

Hey eileen!

You might try a recipe that uses Grapenuts...

I found this one but I'm not sure if it would be good with cranberries. Okay, honestly, I wouldn't like a banana/cranberry combination but that's just me.

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups margarine (3 sticks)
2/3 cup brown sugar, Firmly packed
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups Post Grape-Nuts cereal
2 cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup dried cranberries

96 cookies Change size or US/metric : We don't know how long this takes to make. If you do, tell us.

Change to: cookies US Metric
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Mix flour and baking soda in small bowl.
3. Beat margarine in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed to soften.
4. Gradually add sugars, beating until light and fluffy.
5. Beat in egg and vanilla.
6. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well after each addition.
7. Stir in cereal, oats and cranberries.
8. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
9. Bake 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
1. Cooled 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.
2. Cool completely on wire racks.

You may think this is crazy, but anyway, here's something you might consider if you like banana and chocolate.

ANN T's SILLY TOFFEE SQUARES
1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup Rice Krispies cereal
1/4 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup butter melted
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (NOT Evaporated Milk!)
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1-1/4 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Combine first 6 ingredients and press into 8-inch square pan and bake at 350Â° F. for 10 minutes.
In heavy nonstick saucepan combine condensed milk, 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Bring to a low boil and cook 5 minutes, stirring continuously. Be careful not to burn. Remove from heat and pour over baked crust.
Melt chocolate chips over low heat. Stir in remaining cereal until well coated. Using two forks spread over caramel layer. Chill and cut into squares.

PEANUT BUTTER BROWNIES 2 sticks butter 1/3 cup cocoa powder 2 cups granulated sugar 4 eggs 1 1/2 cups flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla 1 cup crunchy peanut butter Preheat the oven to 350Â°. FROSTING: 1 stick butter 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/3 cup milk 8 large marshmallows 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla 1 lb (3 1/2 cups) confectioners' sugar, sifted Melt together the butter, cocoa, milk, marshmallows, salt & vanilla. ORANGE BALLS 1/2 cup margarine, softened 1 lb box powdered sugar 6 oz can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed 1/2 cup coconut 1/2 cup chopped nuts 12 oz box vanilla wafers, finely crushed Powdered sugar, ground nuts or fine coconut Mix margarine & powdered sugar on low speed. Add orange juice, nuts & coconut gradually. Blend in crushed vanilla wafers. Form 1" or smaller balls & roll in powdered sugar, nuts or coconut. Stor in a covered container. Makes about 4 dozen.~~ GRANDMA'S BEST COOKIE (2-3 dozen) 1 cup peanut butter 1 cup sugar 1 stick butter 1 cup white corn syrup (Karo) 6 cups Special K cereal 1 cup chocolate chips 1 cup butterscotch chips Cook first 4 ingredients over medium heat, only until sugar dissolves. Toss & coat cereal in this mixture. Spread in greased 9x13" pan. Melt chocolate & butterscotch chips over low to medium heat. Pour over mixture in pan. Let cool completely before cutting.~~ CHINESE NEW YEAR'S COOKIES (about 2 dozen) 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips 6 oz butterscotch chips 7 1/2 oz salted peanuts 3 oz can chow mein noodles Melt chocolate & butterscotch morsels in double boiler. Add noodles & nuts. Drop on cookie sheet lined w/waxed paper & refrigerate. When set, remove from cookie sheet & store in plastic container in refrigerator.~~ CHOCOLATE OATMEAL COOKIES 1 stick butter or margarine 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup unsweetened Hershey's cocoa powder 1/2 tsp salt 3 cups Minute oats 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup milk Put butter in saucepan & melt. Mix together the sugar, cocoa & salt. Pour mixture into melted butter & mix. Add milk. Bring mixture to boil; boil about 2 minutes. Remove from heat. While mixture is still in pan, add vanilla. Place oats in large heatproof bowl. Pour in hot mixture. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let cool until hardened. Remove with flat spatula.~~Cooking with the Angels

Potpie, I've made this recipe for years Here's my long time favorite cut out cookie dough. If I remember correctly it was originally in a BH+G magazine in the late 70's. I usually double it in my KA mixer and usually make at least three bowls of the dough. I have a very large tree shape cookie cutter (about 9") and love to make and decorate special cookies for those that love cutouts. This dough is one that you can roll thick, if you like a softer cutout, yet still holds up. CREAM CHEESE COOKIES 1½ C sugar 1 C unsalted butter 1 8oz pkg cream cheese 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla ½ tsp almond extract 3½ C flour (I like unbleached) 1 tsp baking powder In a mixing bowl cream sugar, butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Add egg and flavorings, beat smooth' Stir together the flour and baking powder, add to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly. FOR CUT-OUT COOKIES Chill dough. Roll out on surface dusted with a mixture of ½ powered sugar and ½ flour, ¼ to ½ inch thick depending on your preference. Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet ( I line with parchment paper) and bake in a 375° oven 8-10 minutes. Watch for the edges to just barely begin to brown if you like a moist cookie. Cool and frost. COOKIE PRESS COOKIES Divide dough into portions and add desired colors. Force through cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in a 375° oven 8-10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on wire rack. Before baking brush with slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with colored sprinkles if desired. Note...I have added about 4 oz of almond paste to the dough when making the cookie press cookies.....yum! FAVORITE ICING FOR CUTOUT COOKIES 2 c powered sugar, sifted 2 Tbsp softened butter ¼ tsp vanilla ¼ tsp almond extract 1 egg white ¼ C milk or cream Combine egg white and milk, set aside. Beat together powered sugar, butter and flavorings. Add small amounts of the milk mixture until icing is spreading consistency. Tint with desired colors. Here is my Spiced Nut Recipe: Spiced Nuts 2-TBSPs. Butter 3- cups nuts ( I use a combo of walnuts, pecans,peanuts and almonds) 1-TBSP. Worcestershire sauce 1-tsp. Chili powder Â½-tsp. Garlic salt Â¼- tsp Cayenne pepper Melt butter in pan in a 300 degree oven. Add Worcestershire sauce and nuts. Mix well. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove nuts from oven and sprinkle with spices.

Thanks I guess I could just illiminate the cranberries and it would be fine..Ill give it a try Im starting to bake alot now, of course yesterday i was in the mood to bake and I only had 4 cups of flour left ...boy was I mad! So its off to BJ Wholesale today so im set for the weekend.

Jessy, the point of this thread is that Eileen wants to use her favorite cereal which is "Banana Nut Crunch", so that's where the banana comes in. There's no banana right off the tree, just what's in the cereal :-)

Not cookies but I'll bet the Bran Muffins would be good replacing the bran flakes with the Banana Nut Cereal.

I just tried a great recipe, from a magazine and wouldn't you know it, the 2007 magazine got away from me. Am not for sure which magazine, It may have been Country Living, Feb, Or March issue, but could have been Southern Living or Taste of Home or even Kraft too.
Anyway some of the ingredients were Oatmeal, Post cereal, coconut, brown sugar, white sugar, flour, nuts and raisens. If anyone knows what recipe this is

A simple quick well-known one:

QUICK CHOCOLATE KRISPIE CRUNCHES

Preparation time: less than 30 mins

Cooking time: less than 10 mins

Ingredients:

75g/3oz butter
100g/4oz golden syrup
60g/2Â½oz plain chocolate, broken in pieces
50g/2oz Rice Krispies
50g/2oz rolled oats

Method:

1. Put the butter, golden syrup and chocolate into a small saucepan and melt together over a low heat.
2. Mix together the Rice Krispies and rolled oats and stir in the golden syrup mixture.
3. Line a bun tray with ten paper cases.
4. Fill the paper cases with the chocolate rice krispie mixture.
5. Place in the fridge to set.
