I've had success using milk/water to control PM, the downside is that you must reapply the milk after rain or heavy dew. BS pressure in my area is very high, BS can only be controlled with a regular fungicide program here (and careful selection of roses with high BS resistance). So...in the case of BS I think you're better off drinking the milk and spraying Bayer Advanced.

This is an old post but for those still drinking lots of sodas I'll weigh in! I had migraines for over 30 yrs. The medicine often didn't help them as much as I would like so I tried Pepsi, it helped some & before long I drank 2-3 a day. I never liked coffee or tea & never drank sodas until I went to college & then just occasionally(no money) So then I started getting this nagging pain on each side of my back, like I had a small bag of rocks tied around my kidneys, Soon I noticed blood on the tissue from urine. I stopped with the Pepsi after I also went to dentist & had developed several cavities since last visit & all were at base of the teeth by gums. So I tried Lipton decaf, weak. Bring 2 qts water to boil turn off & add 2 tea bags & let sit for quite awhile. Bro. told me he had a serious problem- I asked what & he said blood, I said what does dr. say & he said they can't figure it out, I asked it he was still drinking pop like it was going out of style, he said he was, so he stopped, problem disappeared , 2nd bro had endoscope(what Joan Rivers had & died from) maybe wrong word, tube down throat into his stomach & further) I asked why, blood in urine, I said we should tell each other before all the testing. Again they couldn't give him an answer, I said you still drink a lot of Coke,yes, well stop & never touch it again because 10 yrs after I quit I could smell the Pepsi as someone was pouring some in a glass & I poured about 2 oz in a little cup & in minutes the dragging down feeling was back & blood in urine. So I think that sodas do permanent damage to your insides. I can't have anything carbonated except Sparkling Martinelli's apple juice which it used to say was "naturally carbonated" but now says "carbonated apple juice" so I may not be able to drink it either. Knott's came out with 1 & it caused me problems. I've learned to drink the weak tea, add ice to it & after 3-4 months got to like it. I get gal size of Crystal Geyser water & just wash & refill smaller bottle to take with me. Our tap water looks awful in a clean clear glass held up to sunlight, won't drink unless it's boiled!

Well, for me there can never be too much quilting fabric. I've been doing the Round Robin challenge, and just discovered that while I had a lot, there were still some centers that I needed to run out and buy more to accommodate what I WANTED to do. And I am always one to buy more than I likely need, in the event I run out and have to find a way to "make do". In fact, before I logged on here, I just got back from JoAnn's where I bought 1/4 yd. of a fabric I needed two 5" squares from to finish a RR quilt center. My stash is stored in 2 underbed storage bins on wheels that fit under my queen-size bed. Then there is a large rectangular laundry basket that is full in the closet, stacks and piles on one sewing cabinet in the bedroom, more stashed and stored away in the basement, and currently about 15 yards or more on the sewing cabinet in the living room. More in 3 tubs in the living room, all dedicated to various swaps that I am currently working on. I keep out what I am currently using/selecting from, and will hopefully put it away at some point this week so that we can have a "fabric-free" Easter (but don't tell my husband; he thinks it's possible, but I say it isn't likely to happen!). Will I ever stop buying fabric? Unlikely. It is my medium of choice for creativity. It is my canvas; my paint. Without it, I am lost. It calms my nerves and de-stresses me. It makes me feel good. And it's cheaper than paying a therapist every week for God knows how long, just to find out that my problems all begin and end with "my mother"..... What an excellent question! Odessa

I would not have been able to toss the glass votive in the trash. I have found that almost anything I want to get rid of can find a home via Freecycle or the free section of Craigslist. This year I parted with a bunch of Christmas decor that I realized wasn't making it out of the boxes, thus becoming sort of "second string." I got so many responses, I ended up making two bags for two different families. I agree that filling up landfills is not the particular issue, and glass is as inert a substance as there is. I just hate trashing things that are still usable. But I won't claim to be rational on this topic. I used to get odd decor items from family members and feel like even if I didn't display them (they came from people who live 1000 miles away), I had to let them "compost" in my closet for a few years before I could give them to Goodwill. Yeah, not rational.
