So, I am going to need some good ideas to use in it. I think the first one is going to be the sticky chicken that TeresSA_NC7 posted (sorry about the caps, finger slipped!) in my first post about what one could do. Will also check out the link ann_t posted, and maybe the peach maple tart.
I'm getting excited! Won't make anything tonight or tomorrow, but maybe Sunday.
have fun, Tami, I love mine. I'm using the big 18 quart this weekend to make a huge batch of beef stock for canning, but the little one gets the most use.
I got mine Tuesday but haven't really had a chance to read about it. I got a red 6 qt. one with a porcelain interior.... had the best price. Tami, I'll be interested to hear about your first dish you prepare in it (with specific instructions)LOL
I got the red 6 qt. non stick. Jude, we have to do a smoke burn on it in a well ventilated area for an hour (read manual!) before we can cook in it. Darn. It's snowing like mad here! And I have a baby shower tomorrow to go to. I am thinking about making the sticky chicken recipe that teresa_nc7 posted in my original post for my first run.
Annie, I'm looking forward to it. I am hoping it will work good for us in the RV. Especially to keep the heat down in the summer!
Carol, do you use tomatoes in your swiss steak, or is it a brown gravy? Mine is a brown gravy. If yours is, can you post your recipe, please?
I have the 6qt. A few months ago I was making some sauerkraut and sausage in it,, about 3/4 full and it seemed to be burning it.. I'm wondering if it's gone wonky or something. Kinda like the thermostat was staying on high all the time and not cycling to the set temp.
Pet, mine has never done that, I'm crossing my fingers as mine gets a LOT of use.
There are two appliances in my kitchen (other than the stove, refrigerator and dishwasher, LOL) that I would replace promptly if they quit working. One is that little Nesco and the other is my Zojirushi breadmaker. I use each of them at least three times a week. The only appliance I use more is my coffeepot!
Carol, thanks. Mine is my mom's "recipe" and is also a brown gravy.
I did the sticky chicken recipe, minus the garlic powder, and less cyan pepper. And yes, I know I miss-spelled that! Can't think how right now, and not willing to look it up!
It fell apart so much we had to scoop it out. The white meat was very dry, but every thing was very tender. Next time I will try breast side down and see if it's better. I think I will use it a lot!
