and my sweet husband says, anniversary (50 years in April), birthday, Mother's Day and probably next Christmas too!

I don't care I am very happy with this stove........I have been using a lemon of a Jenn Air range since 2004 and have averaged 2-3 service calls a year and still the oven door wouldn't close properly, the simmer burner didn't. It took 30 minutes to preheat the danged oven.

I ended up with a Frigidaire gas range from their Gallery line. I have used every feature on it since 12/31 and can happily report I am delighted. I simmered some pizza sauce for two hours and just had to stir occasionally, it never stuck or scorched the sides of the pan. I have used the center griddle, baked a cake and baked two pizzas and will soon put a recipe of Annie1992's WW bread in and try the quick cook (fan) on it. I love the attached bottom rack where when you open the oven door, the rack pulls out half way. No more burned hands from reaching between racks to get that pizza stone. They are easily detached for cleaning.

OK, enough. I am sorry for carrying on so.

The second splurge was an inexpensive counter top oven that can cook 2 12-inch pizzas at one time. I am loving it. I only have room for the range, no built-in oven space. My previous little toaster oven was too small to cook without using foil top and bottom to keep from burning. I have used the convection feature, baked biscuits, a pie crust and even baked the meringue on the coconut cream pie with it.

We had company for the last three days....just an explanation of all the cooking.

It actually has cast metal knobs! The JA had plastic and were replaced three times because the oven door vented out so much heat it fried the pressed foil. This stove has so little heat from the front oven vent that the knobs don't even get warm.

Sorry to gush, but I have been wrestling with the JA for so long............

I am a very happy cook.

It looks a lot like mine..and I love it.

Mine is a full gas Maytag..going on 6 or 7 years now. I've never cleaned it on anything other than "lite" as well it does a perfect job without needing the cleaning cycle on for ever!

Well my range recently had a heating element in the oven go kaput. I am in the market for a range. Does yours have the baking element on the floor of the oven or buried beneath it? I did see an ad for Fridgedaire appliances in today's paper and plan on checking them out. And I'm taking my time because if I get hired on as a full time employee I will be doing a complete remodel.

My present was equally as exciting - although I don't think any house guests would think so or appreciate them as much as your guests appreciated your cooking.

Leave it to a mom to get her kid some winter safety gear! Yes - even though I'm 57 my mom worries about me falling down when I am out for a run! :-)

Thanks for the suggestions. This looks like a shoe rack, but the shoes would have to be a size 18 or so. I looked at the store display businesses online and didn't see one. It may have been custom made for a particular business. There are lots of store display items that would work for something like this. The curves can be sawed off to use it for a bottle tree or something else. I'll probably plant some plants in it besides the empty pots, and hadn't thought of the coconut hair. It would work nicely. Thanks for the weed cloth tip. Sounds like a good idea for any of these basket type plantings. Storing dolls or animals on it would be fun. They could be climbing every which way on it. It would be a good clothes line also. If we can get it together soon enough we may light it up in the front yard for Christmas. I spray painted it green today and will post a photo tomorrow on this thread. It looks a lot better already. It comes apart just by unthreading it off the pole. There are 3 sets of 2 levels. They're pretty stable and could be used separately on posts or a tabletop. It's amazing how many great ideas people here come up with. Now who wants to go on a dumpster store rack hunt, lol?! I agree Strawberry! And it really helps to put something in a bush picture that includes scale (like a person) I have been reading what others in the general area have said about the size of their plants, most seem to be bigger than listed on hmf. I hate to put a plant in that I will have to fight with for space or peer over the railing and point it out. Everything I got is own root, so it can be in the main garden with the chickens or up by the house and protected. I would also like some nice views for the neighbors and a thorny reminder for midnight fruit pickers that the grocery store is a better spot for picking fruit. Plus I want a nice view from the house to the garden. Lots of place to put the ones I picked out, and if they are not suited to the prospective location....well shoot means I need to order a few more right!

I'm in awe of those of you who are organized. What a grand tool box, Caroline! We are a pair of packrats, incorrigible. The Scrap Man comes by and reminds us every now and then that we're supposed to be throwing away and we keep moving things around. The space fills up again with objects that need lengthy goodbyes. We dragged the old Ford Truck from under the equipment shed for the Scrap Man to take away, and DH rearranged all his toys. At lunch, he described to me a battery operated nail driver that is on sale somewhere and then admitted that he has an air impact nail driver that has never been out of the box. Thanks, jennmonkey. I went to see my neurologist yesterday and told him about the difficulty I am having sleeping, because I have to sleep on my stomach to get any sleep. He touched the lower part of my back and asked if it hurt there and I almost jumped off the table. I am scheduled for an MRI on 1/24 so I'll be anxious to see what is going on and why I have daily back pain. I don't know if the degenerative disc disease is worse or if there is something else happening. My lawyer told me I have a good case, so I'll have to be patient for about a year until SS gets around to reviewing my case. I guess you go before a judge on the third time - my attorney filed my appeal on 12/23 so he said don't be surprised if it's Christmas before we hear from SS. They must really be behind. I am praying I can get approved, as this would drastically help our financial situation.

gldno, what a great stove. I have a very cheap Crosley, but it works. I've had it repaired twice, the heating element in the oven both times, but it works fine, no self cleaning or anything like that.

I'm glad to know you like it, though, because someday Elery and I will be building a place at the farm and I'll be picking out a new stove...

I've wrestled with crappy stoves so I know how happy you are. I'm even happy for you! Great looking appliance!

Nice. Beautiful looking range.

I have a question though. I'm extremely safefy conscious and having curtains over a stove freaks me out. Especially a gas stove. Aren't you worried about fire?

I love your new stove - thanks for sharing the picture! I share a bit of Ann's concern, however, and recommend that you replace the curtains with a Roman shade. They are very easy to make, but you do have to cut wood to fit the width of your window.

How difficult is it to open that window? What kind of view does it have? I think I see a building (or at least a gable) on the other side of it? Which direction does it face? Do you use the window as a vent instead of a hood? My stove in Austin had a hole in the wall behind it with a fan that would blow air to the outside.

Your photo reminds me that I need to do a good cleaning to my own stainless steel stove, but it will nevery look as nice as yours!
