Defrosted turkey thigh, is it safe?

I had a turkey thigh in the freezer/refrigerator that we keep in our garage. We use it mostly to keep extra meat and vegetable products, since I buy in bulk when cheap.

It's a side by side, which is frost free. I know frost free just means it has a heating unit in it which turns on now and then.

I went out to get it for tonight's dinner and it was defrosted. I checked all the other meat, and it was all still frozen. The thigh had been on the top shelf of the freezer, against the refrigerator side. This is the heater side. I don't put meat against that side in general, but it must have gotten knocked over.

Since refrigerators are not designed to work when they are in a cold place, I have found before that this one seems to get confused when it gets really cold outside. I am more likely to have to turn it up when it gets cold out. It's hard to remember to stay on top of this, though. I don't know whether to blame that, or the meat having been against the side. I felt as soon as I reached in, though, that temps were not what they should be. I was last in that freezer Thursday night, when all was well. It would not have been opened after that.

So I have no idea how long it was defrosted. It was still quite cold, though no ice crystals. I unwrapped, washed and cleaned it, and could not detect an odor. It just smells like meat. I put my nose right up to where I cleaned out the kidneys: nothing.

If it doesn't smell bad, is it okay? Thanks!
