I'll own up....I am 63 (as of yesterday!) and like you want to look my best. I exercise and do all I can to be healthy. I have had Juvederm injections in my nasolabial folds (nose to mouth-the parentheses), a small amount in my lips to smooth out those lines and under my eyes to smooth out my under eye area. I love it and have had great results. In the beginning I went for touch ups every 3-4 months but over time go about twice a year since I think there is a "build up" over time of the Juvederm. I also have botox twice a year to smooth out that awful crevice I had between my eyebrows. No apologies needed for your desire to look and feel your best-you are not hurting anyone. Those that judge and hurt others worry me more. There is a Juvederm product I use now that has a numbing agent in it-it doesn't hurt at all. The only thing you may see is a small bruise if you tend to bruise and it covers with makeup for the few days it is there. If I can give you any other information let me know. If you don't like the result it wears off slowly over time or can be dissolved with an injection. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I never had any injections, but I did have my eyelids lifted -- top and bottom. Best money I ever spent. The only thing that stops me from doing more is the expense. I'd love to have my neck lifted and I just may do it!

I am 63 and could write the same paragraph that you wrote. I make no apologies for what I do. I don't want to look 40. I just want to look good for my age. I use Juvederm on my nasolabial folds and botox between my eyes. Please use someone who was well referred and that you feel comfortable with. I think you'll enjoy the results.

Joshuasmah and Vickij......thank you so much, and you, too, detired! My problems are just in those areas that you both mentioned, and I really do want to look my best!. This surgeon was referred by two women I know who use him and both look great. They are my age, and no, they don't look 40, but they look very attractive and well rested for our age group. I don't bruise easily, and am a fast healer, so I'm excited about seeing some improvement. It will all depend, too, on the cost. I've been told this dr. is very reasonable, but still don't know what to expect and naturally, this will depend upon what he recommends as looking most natural. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have had the Juvaderm injections in my lips, and it has ABSOLUTELY been one of the best things I've done! Of course, the trick is not to do TOO much. My girlfriend did it first, and I liked hers, so I did mine in August and it still looks better than it did when I went in. Will probably do it again around March or April. I had the lines on my upper lips mainly, and they are all but gone. Since it doesn't last forever, I see them coming back a little, but my lips still look better than before.

My other girlfriends want to have theirs done, because mine look so good, if I say so myself! LOL!

They are swollen at first, so they will appear a little bigger the first week. I had bruises on my lips too, but lipstick covered it up.

MAKE SURE THEY CAN DEADEN YOUR LIPS COMPLETELY, especially the upper lips, it hurts BAD if they aren't. The doctor who did mine, couldn't get my upper lips numb enough, and I was so painful! My other GF's husband is a dentist, and I am going to go to him to get numbed before going back to the doctor who did mine, to make sure my lips can't feel a thing!

Don't shop for a doctor who is "reasonable." Shop for the very best doctor you can find. This is not where you want to go bargain hunting.

Detired. when I said "reasonable", I meant his price was competitive for our area. I've seen his work on one friend, that was remarkable, and she was very pleased. The other woman had the work done before I met her, and still does, and she is very satisfied with him and she looks great. I feel two great recommendations from people I actually know is a good start.

Olliesmom is your physician using the Juvederm with the numbing agent in it? I used to get a dental block by the plastic surgeon because it hurt, but then he started using the new version with the lidocaine in it and it does't hurt at all. Maybe check next time you go. It seems to be lasting as long as the Juvederm without it.
dedtired-I had my upper lids done a month ago and like you, couldn't be happier! Done in the office, no pain but some bruising afterwards and I look so much better-not tired looking and not 40 but a happier 63!

I've been getting juvederm injections for the last 18 months, 4 sessions, and it's been a great thing for me. Problem is that it's addictive, I can't wait to go back and get more done, lol..... I have to find a new physician since we are moving to another city. The person I see likes to start slowly and see how you react,
and add more over time. My main concern is to lift the jaw line, round up the contour of the face.

Joshuasmom, I had the same experience when my eyes were done. It was done in the office and the only pain were the pinpricks when the anesthetic was injected. Not bad at all. I looked pretty beat up for about a week and went back to work after two weeks, totally recovered. Do you have numb eyelashes? Isn't that a weird sensation?

I'd love to know if anyone has had a Lifestyle Lift and whether you were happy with the result.

joshuasmom, I am so glad to hear the Juvaderm with numbing agent works! I will definately be telling her ahead of time, so she can order it if she doesn't have it. Surely she does by now, you'd think.

I will probably be getting an eyelift of some sort this year. Been procrastinating about it, but it is definately in my future.

Dedtired my eyelashes are numb! It feels weird to put mascara on. My surgeon said it goes away in a few months but if it doesn't I'll live with it because I look so much more awake and you can actually see my eyes are blue! I am very happy I finally had it done. Took me about 2 weeks also. I had to go to a company function 10 days after the surgery so I went to Ulta and asked the cosmetologist to help me with makeup. In the evening light of the restaurant no one knew I had bruises or surgery. My son who lives in the same town hasn't even noticed which is a good thing-I don't look like Joan Rivers! LOL No life style lift though-I haven't heard great things about that-I would research on line to see what people who have had it done say.

Olliesmom I think Restylane may have the numbing agent also if that is what your injector uses. I've had my lips done without the dental block-once-all I can say is OUCH! I think you will be happy with the newer products. Only a pinch from the needle. Good luck!

It takes awhile, but the eyelashes come back. I have to admit that I couldn't stop looking at myself after I was all healed. I look at pix of myself right before it was done and think "thank heavens I did it."

To the OP, I say go for it. I would do it in a heartbeat. I'm all for getting minimally invasive procedures done on particular areas of the body that make one feel self-conscience. I have a frown line that really bothers me. I'm 46. I'm starting to get a few lines around my eyes but they don't bother me. It's the frown line that bothers me. No one has ever said a word to me so it is probably more noticeable to me than anyone else.
Is there anyone here willing to give a ballpark figure of what botox or fillers cost?
Also, my sister-in-law went to a "botox party" at a salon. She lives a few hours from me. She said that the people doing the procedures were licensed, but not physicians. She enjoyed the experience. Apparently they were doing botox injections, fillers, and chemical peels. Your thoughts? Would any of you go to such a party? (I hate to admit it but I think I would).

I pay about $400 for Botox twice a year-for squint lines and the dreaded trough between the eyebrows. I believe the Juvederm is about $600. I honestly wouldn't go to anyone but a plastic surgeon for the treatments because they study the facial structures extensively and ...well..it is your face. Just my thoughts. I am sure there are non-doctor injectors that are good, I just don't want to take a chance. Fillers can be reversed, Botox can't and has to wear off over many months if you are unhappy with the results.

pardon my ignorance, but why can't/don't you have the juvederm used for the lines by your nose and eyes??

I've been to a botox party, which is fine, IMO, but, as far as putting Juvaderm in my lips, I want the Physician's TOTAL attention, so I had that done in her office.

I was so scared of doing my lips in fear of looking like Joan Rivers (LOL Joshuasmamah!) but am so happy I did it, you would probably be surprised who has had it done, and they don't look like they have, cause we don't go overboard!

I had a skinny upper lip, with lines beginning to show, and lipstick bleeding into my lines. Not anymore!

Well, it's done! I went yesterday, expecting just a consultation, but the plastic surgeon, after consulting me on all the different products, results and his recommendations, was prepared to start immediately. I didn't expect this, but of course, that is what I'd hoped for, since he is only in this location once each month. He felt that a laser treatment would be most beneficial for my overall facial complexion and problems, as well as Restylane and Juvederm in certain target areas. I wasn't financially prepared to have the laser treatment as well as the injections, so he only did injections in those areas that bothered me the most, which was the upper lip area wrinkles, deep wrinkles in the corners of my mouth and nasolabial folds.

They used a numbing cream and the doctor did a dental block, which made the whole procedure totally painless. He used Restylane with lidocaine, explaining that he could get more precise results with that other than Juvederm. It was a painless procedure, and once the dental block wore off I was mildly discomforted for the remainder of the day - sort of like after a bad day at the dentist, lol! The whole area was swollen and puffy yesterday, but appears to have settled down overnight and now only slightly swollen.

My upper lip wrinkles were really bad, and at the corner of my mouth were really deep, so I'm thrilled with the results. I plan to go back and have the rest of the suggested work done as soon as I can.

Busybee, I do have the Juvederm by my nose down to my mouth-those dreaded parentheses! I also have had it put under my eyes to fill in under the eyebags and it looks so good I don't need a lower eye lift. I think the reason for the Botox choice for the smile lines is that is cause by the muscles, not volume loss so the Botox "freezes" the muscles reducing the smile lines. You can't use a filler for the between the eyebrow lines because the tissue is thin there and there have been reports of the tissue dying in that area after a filler.

I'm still a little "puffy" looking above my upper lip, that's where most of the injections were. Any idea how long before that puffiness goes away?

the puffiness usually goes down 3-4 days. I bet you are the only one who knows your lips are puffy. A few years ago I had a pre-cancer taken off the middle of my cheek. For a week I had black stiches and globs of bacitracin in full view-I was pretty self concious about it but realized that no matter where I went-no one noticed, not even a second look.

Mine went down in less than a week, if I remember correctly. Yes, I bet you are the only one who notices the puffiness. I bet you will love it! I am excited for you!
