So I got this quote from our local Wolf/Sub-Zero dealer. We're in Canada, so was wondering how this differs from pricing in the US.

1. 36" INDUCTION COOKTOP (CT36IU) - $4499.00
2. 30" E-SERIES OVEN (SO30-2U/S) - $4499.00
3. STEAM OVEN (CSO24) - $4499.00
4. 24" DRAWER MICROWAVE (MWD24-2U/S) - $1799.00
5. 42" SS FRIDGE (BI-42SID/S) - $11,999.00 or 48" SS FRIDGE (BI-48SID/S) - $12,499.00

Not much movement on pricing - aside from the the $1500 factory discount that the above currently qualifies for.

Here's what on the Wolf/SZ site for US MSRP:

36" induction CG36IU - $3815

Are your prices in Canadian dollars?

I got quotes on different Wolf/SZ products than you did but my dealer stuck to the MSRPs almost exactly - maybe $15 off here, $30 off there.

Thanks for posting zeebee. Didn't realize MSRPs were listed on the US site. Yeah, all my prices are in Canadian dollars (which is pretty close to par at the moment).

Well, I have Wolf rangetop and ovens (couldn't do the low ovens of a range though I loved the look and counter space) but did Thermador columns. I didn't have room for more than 48" and had to push that a bit, but I also didn't like the location of the SZ ice maker. SZ also didn't have anything that looked like the Thermador then and I loved the look and raised ergonomics of the Thermador. I don't think you have a bad choice, although some folks have a strong dislike for Thermador burners and the cycling on and off on the super low simmer.

smm5525, that combination, 30" induction and 15" gas power burner, is what I'm tumbling around in my head. Actually, if we were to do this, I think we'd go for a 36" induction with the 15" gas power burner module, but pretty much the same configuration that you're doing. We have a Cuisinart griddler that we use every weekend morning, and a quesadilla maker that is used daily. The griddler looks kind of cool and we put it away after use, but the quesadilla maker is ugly and it's always on my countertop. I am actually planning an appliance garage simply to hide it from view because I cannot bear the thought of my beautiful new kitchen having that blasted red appliance sitting out on the counter - all.the.time. Last night I learned that it's possible to make quesadillas on the griddle on the gas rangetop and I hatched an evil plan to banish the quesadilla maker from the kitchen. But if we go with the induction it'll get a reprieve. Sigh. So, gas rangetop with griddle and charbroiler = two less appliances.

This "May" be a little late! I would stay away from GE Appliances due to: General Electric has sold its appliance business to Haier for $5.4 billion, a deal that will greatly expand the Chinese firm's footprint in the U.S. It is very likely that there will be transitional problems, possible inventory problems etc etc. I would certainly take the time to read reviews of GE appliances bought after about June of 2016. We too are debating whether to replace our Jenn-Air fridge with a Sub-Zero. The Jenn-Air had been trouble free, (No service calls) for 10 years. The icemaker did die after about 5 years but was widely available on-line, cheap ($135) and easily replaced by me, (Plug in). Unfortunately year 11 for the fridge has NOT been good, No compressor problems or expensive parts, but several calls for wild temp swings in Freezer and now a 2nd call for frost in freezer, and since the last "frost repair" we had to remove the top cover over the fridge to keep it from shutting down. Anyway, repair guy coming today, We giving him one last chance, replace anything that looks like it is or could be a problem, it breaks again it gets replaced by an SZ. We hate to replace it because of the fridge's wood panels, keeping it clean has been a "Non Issue" for 11 years now, WE hate to go back to Stainless Steel and the "Joy" of keeping that spotless!!! Why SZ you say? Simple Answer SERVICE!!!!! SZ has their own Service Dept. Jenn-Air does NOT have their own service nor does Whirlpool who Owns Jenn-Air, Kitchenaid, Maytag and who knows what else? So even though I searched extensively for the best service dept for my Jenn-Air Fridge, (Yelp Reviews, Yellow Pages Reviews, etc etc, and I probably found about the best there is as far as Jenn-air Service goes! Buttttt, Here is the way the company I picked, services Jenn-Air appliances. First You call them, it can take up to a week to get a return call, by the guy that is going to do the actual service. You describe "IN DETAIL" what the problem is. Still He comes out several days later and has a "look see". He then orders the parts, which usually takes another week, then returns with the parts and installs them. All this time the fridge is malfunctioning!!! Fortunately, being a "Techie" (Electronic Engineer), I've been able to keep the fridge running well enough to preserve the food. I removed the cover over the electronics to keep them cool, manually defrosted the freezer, removed a shield in the freezer so ice could not build up on it and block evaporator fan, turn power on/off many times, etc etc. Anyway tired of it , so I'm hoping , first of all The SZs does not break, 2nd, if it does , service will be prompt and parts needed replace on the FIRST SERVICE CALL, not the 3rd call or so !!! From this forum, we know it has been ongoing for 10 years and some posters have had as many as 3 go bad not to mention one of the lawsuits mentioned a multiplicity of failures for one family. They were also talked into spending more money with Wolf to upgrade with the idea it would not occur and it still chipped. That has happened on this forum too. I feel if Wolf was sincere and it was truly a rare occurrence, they would upgrade the appliance at no additional cost for the inconvenience it causes and in at least one case someone cut their hand on the shards. Savings would be upwards of $2500 if I were to purchase in the US, however the factory discount wouldn't apply anymore. Probably better off sticking to local dealers - even though paying so much more then our American friends grinds my gears. Doesn't help either that I'm not too fond of paying full MSRP on such pricey items (I thought everything that cost as much as a car had significant wiggle room).

You have lotsa options besides Wolf, especially ovens.

Just follow one lady's experience with her Wolf ovens on Garden Web, She is on at least her 3rd Wolf oven now.

Compare that to my nearly 7 year old Electrolux oven that has never had a service call and still looks and performs great.

Also note the posts from a user that has both an Electrolux oven and a Wolf Oven---The Elux is a wall oven and the Wolf oven is part of a range.

Also there were at least 3 different posters that had problems with the Wolf door latch and some with various error codes.

True there are many many Wolf ovens that work well and are relatively trouble free, as there are a few Elux ovens that have had problems (Usually those made around 2009-2010), but it you compare the number of Elux ovens sold, (They are sold in virtually every Sears store), plus they are about half the price of a Wolf, one would suspect that Elux sells a lot more ovens than does wolf.

"Most folks" will only post if there is a problem with the oven, so taking that in account, one would deduce that far more Elux ovens are in operation with no problems than there are Wolf ovens with no problems.

Both ovens are made in the US.

Try some other dealers. We just installed a BI 36R Overlay (panel ready) which is listed on Sub Zero's site at $6100. I checked with several large appliance chains but found my best price at a local dealer who has 3 locations - after some negotiation we paid $5200. Installation was extra because the old SubZero 501R was smaller and we to have our cabinets modified.

I was concerned that perhaps this was a unit that had been moved around the warehouse or returned by a customer but I verified that they had to pick it up directly from Fretz - the Sub Zero showroom. Several dealers would not budge from the MSRP, others offered a hundred or so off, one offered to give me a microwave (retailed at $200). The pricing is a mystery.

Try asking for the contractor's price. I did and Pacific Sales was considerably less than MSRP.

hi. i went to the US website to look at some of their prices but found nothing. were they removed or am i just not seeing where it is?

I'm trying to find the prices for these items in the US.

Rangetop: SRT364C LP

Warming drawer: WWD30

About a year ago I was in the same position MGDawg. Don't know where you are but I also live in Canada. I ended up getting Gaggenau products instead and they were about half the prices you're showing. IMHO the quality is much better and most of the appliances you're looking at have more features like the plumbed Steam Oven.
There was a Gagg promo on but the dealer was prepared to come down also for the whole package. Better yet they sent me to a service company specializing in Gagg who did an amazing install.
