Thanks for your suggestions. Kew2006, the bed looks so âÂÂundressedâ with the pillows exposed, though. Normally they are covered with my bedspread. I find in daily use, I almost never put my shams on. But since I have been using a bedspread, and making the bed is so quick and easy, normally I donâÂÂt have to and the bed still looks well made. I would probably have to stop using 100% cotton, as they always look rumpled. When I was trying to take a nice looking photo in a hurry, I really noticed that. I would plan on buying something darker underneath for more contrast. Probably royal blue or a darker green, as that would go with the curtains (open to suggestions!). The dust ruffle is a burgundy-brown taffeta. The bed is an antique and high:, finding a dust ruffle that was deep enough took years, so I think whatever I choose for underneath needs to go with this. A thin bedspread would be ideal: I am planning to use this in the summer. How would it look, you think, with the dark bedspread over the pillows and the coverlet just laid sideways as in the middle set of pictures? No shams at all? Thanks again.

mary: No, it's a white ceramic sink. The sink cabinet is coming out, to be replaced by a range, among other things in the kitchen remodel. You could tear this down, but it's in a neighborhood of 40-100K houses, so it wouldn't be smart financially. deke: I reported over in the Old House forum, but it looks mostly good. The section under the tile is unfinished, so it appears that previous owners put in the tile and then refinished the rest of the floor. The little hallway by the bedrooms has laminate over plywood, so I'm guessing there were water problems in the bathroom that ruined the hardwood there at some point. Bedroom floors are wood but have evidence of past glue-down something under the carpet. Kitchen has a couple layers of vinyl; I couldn't pull off enough without tools to see if there's anything decent underneath.

Deedles-I am so new to this stuff but I'll try to give you the cabinet dimensions. It is a slaller sized U kitchen- so starting on the left is a 12" wall cabinet and 12" base drawers, then 30 inch stove and 30 inch cabinet above, 15 inch upper cabinet, 21 inch easy reach corner cabinet, and then another 15 inch cabinet.Underneath is a 36 inch easy reach base cabinet. Then the 36 inch base cabinet for the sink with window above. To the right of the window is a 30 inch and 15 inch uppers. The 15 inch cabinet has a side access door instead of an end panel. On the lowers is a 36 inch super lazy susan, (part of peninsula), dishwasher, and 18 base drawers. To gain more storage, we also added three 21 inch lower cabinets and a 12 inch corner cabinet on the table side of the peninsula. We had to extend the wall 8 inches to make room for this. We have the table on the eat-in side of the peninsula. That area has an 8 1/2 foot opening into a large 28 x 40 family room. It use to be just over a 9 ft opening but this is where we extended the back kitchen wall. In hte kitchen are between the cooling area and the refrigerator wall is a door that leads into our study/computer room. Hope this helps :)

Our powder room is at the front of a very long laundry room, just inside the back door in the kitchen. In trying to eliminate doorways from our kitchen to make room for more cabinets, several people made the suggestion of removing the kitchen/laundry door, and putting the entrance to the laundry in the dining room. Not a terrible idea on its own, but I shut it down quick. As it is now, I have a curtain dividing the functional laundry from the part that’s essentially a vestibule for the powder room. Moving the door would have taken visitors through the laundry room. And that is absolutely a no go for me. We are considering taking down same door and trimming it as a doorway, because in 8 years in this house I don’t think the door has been closed once. But now I’m really intrigued by the idea of a swinging door. Or possibly just putting a pneumatic door closer on it. Hmmmmm. Back to your situation... Aside from not having much room for sorting and keeping baskets, I think your architects plan would be ok if there were room for some type of door, but it doesn’t look like it. I would like your plan with the addition of a doorway connecting guest room #4 to the other bedroom hallway, for access to the shower without going through the dining room. I do like Mama goose’s plan the best. Usually do :)
