Quick poll - who is still buying GE appliances vs not buying now?
Comments (22)I have spent so much time on GW asking for advice and after much research AND because I spent so much time asking for help here and it took me so long to decide AND my DH would go crazy if I changed my mind, I am still going to go with the GE Monogram DBL ovens. I love the glide racks and knobs and it just seems to have everything I want, except convection conversion. Also, my DH says not to worry about the GE auction, buy-out, merger, whatever it ends up to be and I trust him...hope he's right! Good luck....See MoreTub Drains - Do you like the trip lever or the lift and turn?
Comments (10)i am a definite amateur here, but i bought my toe touch drain without pipes & used regular pvc. we had to have the drain & overflow pipes separate for a rather long stretch (as compared to more traditional setups) because of that joist, so having the traditional pipes wouldn't have worked anyway. at the lowes near me, they had inexpensive toe tap & other drains with the pipes included in the box, so maybe check those out in the store & see how they'd work for you. also, moen was very helpful explaining installation for me over the phone for their toe tap drain i bought... they may be able to help you with these other questions too. also, one thing i remembered while getting my bath ready last night is - my tub is 36 inches wide & the drain is on the far side of an alcove in the center of the far side of the tub. if i had a tub that was any wider, i'd have to climb into it in order to close the drain before i started filling it up. not sure how much a trip lever would help, since it would still have to be far away, but it wouldn't be on the tub bottom, which may help. Here is a link that might be useful: moen toe touch...See Moreanother VOTE from me...it's a quick one-pics!
Comments (32)And how bout if I add the teeny tiny little fact that my GC ordered the handle **by mistake** without my final approval, and they are already at my house! They will exchange for egg if I can ever decide. Adrienne- how amazing is your sink...you must be psyched!!!! I got that feeling when the delivery came to my door with THE most amazing, perfect pendant for over my sink!! Now if only I can tally up these posts and decide......See MorePoll: How long without a kitchen?
Comments (34)The contractor arrived Jul 14 (DH and I had previously removed hd floor in FM and 2 layers of linoleum in kitchen). Initial work involved installation of a fireplace wall so FP could be installed. We had "moved out" of both rooms completely, but could still use range and sink until July 28 when he could no longer work around them. As of yesterday...Sep 9, all the cabinets had been installed in the kitchen, all windows and doors have been moved/installed; all ductwork and electrical and plumbing moved, all recessed lighting installed in both rooms, drywalling and mudding completed. The remaining work is installation of cabinets in the butler pantry area (actually coffee bar and beer making bar), 2 undercabinet lights and puck light installation, crown molding at top of cabinets, installing sinks, handles, window and door trim, 2 new interior doors (just replace) granite fabrication and installation, back splash, and a remove and replace (incl tile floor) in the powder room. The last things will be sand and varnish floor and reinstall dw and fridge. I am figuring about another 3 weeks....which will make about 11-12 weeks total for a major kitchen redo, and major FR redo and powder room. The contractor is basically 2 people, with an occassional 3rd, but brought in subs for plumbing and drywall. Also the contractor himself had finger surgery in week 2. The work is meticulous and precise!!! The contractor a pleasure to work with....See More- 9 years ago
