Odd Food Names/Terminology

The "duck marylands" thread got me thinking about odd names for food. One of my most memorable meals was one of "city chicken" at my grandmothers house in Pittsburgh when I was 6 years old. Cubes of veal and pork threaded on a skewer, dipped in egg, breaded and fried. YUM! My mom told me that during the depression veal and pork were much cheaper than chicken and this was a substitute. A number of people have told me over the years that the term "city chicken" originated in Pittsburgh. I don't know if that's true or not.

Another food of my childhood was "poor man's lobster." AKA - torsk or cod.

What odd food names are a part of your history?
