Maybe I need to try Miele dishwasher tabs??
Comments (10)@kitchendetective, yes, I am a huge Miele fan. I honestly, do not even own a non Miele appliance. I have been Miele only, for almost 20 years. I sold my La Perla I on Craigslist...got a lot for it. It was the BEST machine. I was so excited that the La Perla II opened automatically at the cycle end, so I thought I would treat myself and upgrade. While the new machine is beautiful and I do really like the end of cycle auto open...I am a little disappointed with the performance. Also the door makes a pop/creak/crucnh sound at the bottom of the door, right side. Almost sounds like metal on metal or hard plastic on metal. Odd. Does not sound critical, but for the price...I do not like the sound. I think I am going to have to call Miele. I hope I do not have to use the 90 day return guarantee. What would I get? I do not think Bosch, Asko or KitchenAid are on the same level as Miele. Maybe I should try and find a new La Perla I?? :)...See MoreWhat dishwasher detergent to use in new Miele
Comments (41)I was using Finish Quantum power ball and salts from SOMAT as i have hard water. I began using finishing rinse aid as well as a no name brand but I don't notice the difference. But one thing that has happened is that the lower basket on RHS has rusted and now a prong has broken off. The rust showed up before and Miele replaced basket in first five years (of ten year warranty) but said no more. When this happened again four years later, I called Miele and while I was told when I purchased the machine to use FINISH, Miele is saying it has been reformatted and is causing the problem. That or the rinse aid. OR combo. I will be buying Miele Ultra Tabs from now on and being in Canada in a rural setting, I will have to get them from the co directly. (Note I have an 18 inch d/w). I do hope there is a way to cut the tabs in two as I really don't need that much detergent given size of loads....See MoreMiele dishwasher - something is not right
Comments (15)I do not appear to have a Tab button? I looked all over and read the manual again but no mention of a Tab button. All it says is that if I use a Tab product I might want to disable the "refill rinse aid" messages. I also have not put in salt. I am in the Boston area and all I can find about local water quality is that we have softish water. But this might be wrong or incomplete information. I could not find anything in our local water info which listed specific measurement of hardness/softness. All that being said, my symptoms do match what the manual says about needing more rinse aid so I bumped up the amount to 4 ml and will see what happens tonight. I really do prefer to use powdered detergent over tabs as it is vastly more economical and less wasteful (I HATE those plastic wrappers!!). But if I must change, I will keep your recommendations in mind. Have you ever had problems with the rear-most cutlery not getting cleaned well, no matter what the rest of the performance is? And where do you put your cutting boards? We got used to not putting cutting boards on the right side in our Bosch, though everywhere else was fine, but on the Miele I can't determine where the best place is. I can tell that in the front-most spot it blocks the soap from getting to the dishes and nothing gets washed well. It's too bad because I use a lot of cutting boards....See More2013 Miele diamond & dimension dishwasher questions
Comments (48)Fragrance from the grapefruit tab remains in the tub. Haven't found any transfer to glassware whatsoever. Method also makes a no-fragrance tab. Interesting that you don't get horrible detergent smell from the glasses by using powder. I hate the powders -- can't stand the smell (though the gel is worse). Tabs are a huge improvement for me. Like it or not, the rinse aid does matter as these machines are designed for its use. (Germans seem to have a thing for surfactants). As someone said on one of the threads, if you want a Miele, and dry dishes, it's necessary to accept rinse aid. Fortunately, it's adjustable. You might have a conversation with tech support on this issue. Perhaps the newest machines are more flexible on this. Everyone's water is different. In your house in may be fine to add extra heat and use Cascade. With my soft water I wouldn't dare. However, at one point they programmed the final rinse to be hotter than normal to improve the drying. With a cold-water hook up, which I have, and the onboard heater, a hotter rinse might not affect the cycle time. Occasionally get filming -- iridescent looking streaks on a glass. So I find it useful to an empty cycle on sanitize to clean out any residual soap every few weeks....See Morefriedajune
