Shower Door or No Shower Door?
Comments (12)Hi there, friend! I am just setting out on a bathroom remodel, too. At least without a door, you won't have to worry about keeping the glass clean and using the squeegee all the time. Will there be other sources of heat, such as a heater as part of the fan or heated floors? Actually, considering your location, heat is not usually a problem. In fact, now that I think about it, I think a doorless shower would work well for you. Your experiment sounds like a good way to start. I also have seen showers that are spiral shaped, so you walk into the center to shower. DO you have space for something like that?...See MoreShower Door Swing in and Out?
Comments (25)We installed the shower door to swing inward and outward. After showering, while fan is running we leave the door pushed in, and the transom window tilted, so that any drips go onto shower floor instead of bathroom floor. Floors are existing hard woods, so this was important to us. The only drawback the installer told us, which we were fine with, is that we won't get as tight of a seal for steam. The installer did a good job with the measuring and the seals because it stops at the curb perfectly; we'd have to continue pushing on the door to make it keep going to open outward. We almost never open it outward though; only if cleaning and want the door out of the way. We like it this way; easy reach-in to turn water on is a plus....See MoreDoor swing on shower (in, out or both?)
Comments (6)All of my hinged shower doors (3) can swing both ways ... but in 2 of those showers the spacing between the door and the other surface (wall or glass panel) ended up being a bit too wide, so they added a gasket (or whatever the proper name is!) to keep the water from going through the gap ... but the gasket then stops the door from swinging in. The gasket is easily removed, so you could choose to have water leak out during a shower or have water drip on the floor after the shower!...See Morereroute shower valve or move shower head each shower/niche/which door?
Comments (14)Thanks much and beautiful showers! I am confused about the thermostatic valve. Is this something that I can buy separate and have it installed in the wall so that anytime I change out the shower handle/trim/valve it will automatically be there and still be accessible if it breaks and I need to change it? I hate to have more moving parts and things to break inside the walls. LIke this (although it looks like part of this would stick out of the wall?-another hole?: https://www.amazon.com/Rozin-Thermostatic-Mixing-Temperature-Control/dp/B01FAGWKTC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542006430&sr=8-3&keywords=thermostatic+control+valve#customerReviews Or does do certain valves come with it like this?: https://www.amazon.com/Hansgrohe-04231000-Thermostatic-Control-Diverter/dp/B07FDFK5SM/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1542006430&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=thermostatic+control+valve&psc=1 I was wondering, also, it sets the temp but the initial issue of being cold while the water warms up since it has to run through the pipes would still be there, right? Problem is, I have chosen champagne bronze and if I need to get the thermostatic control valve built in I think that will be hard. I'm already having a hard time finding a handheld and shower head built into the same. I might have to get a separate handheld to divert water or I'm back to the initial question of do I just push the shower head over to shoot towards the wall before I turn on the H20 or go back to the idea of moving the control valve? Here's one of the options I was looking at for a showerhead before this discuss that I might need to adjust: https://www.amazon.com/58471-CZ-PK-H2Okinetic-4-Setting-Handshower-Showerhead/dp/B009MLXJN8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1542006748&sr=8-2&keywords=shower+head+combo+with+handheld+champagne+bronze...See MoreBrewbeer
