I figured I'd chime in since I work in college admission. She needs to come around and WANT to go. I've seen some students go to a school out of obligation and the results aren't great. The fact is that when you're happy, you're more engaged and you learn more. If she winds up at that other university, she may do small things to sabotage herself...maybe not consciously. I personally think our (my profession) pushing seniors to make decisions this early isn't the best for them. My school did away with early action and early decision for many reasons, but I think a happy by product of the move is that seniors make their final decision when their lives are a little more settled. In the fall, they have just started the heaviest courseload they've ever taken, they're suddenly the "leaders" of their activities, and they feel pressured to make a decision about where they'll spend the next four years of their lives. It's unfortunate that we heap all of this on them at once. I personally committed to a school through early decision and was grateful that I wasn't admitted because by April, my first choice had changed! There is so much development during this first semester...so much uncertainty! Hang in there, Thunder. I hope things settle down soon! Maybe you need to push her to start filling out all of those other applications...at least it's something concrete she can do (and must do, regardless of her letter of intent). Good luck!

Ryan, thank you so much for the feedback. This is such an great informative forum and I'm glad I found this site. Yes, they have to over-size the furnace to just be qualified for the tax rebate. Blame on Trane for their current lineup I guess. Not best situation to be an honest Trane dealer if you have to either over size something or use a third party products to take advantage for the tax rebase. The load calc says "Total Heating Load = 61506" so 120-140k BTUH sounds way too much. Plus, I'm concerned now you pointed out the furnace will likely need to move much more air than your current ductwork can handle. What's my alternatives if I want to stay with Trane 3 ton Heap pump either XL15i or XR15? Regarding the IAQ may not be used to trigger to slow down the blower when combining with zoning. Where do I check to be sure? Also, does the triggering even possible with XR15 like it does with XL15i? I think the reason I try to go with a Hybrid system (duel-fuel) is that over here in central NC it does get pretty chilly during Jan and Feb with temprature down to single digits at night for a few weeks. It seems to me it will be prudent to have some sort of back-up heating during this periold. And if adfing a heap-strip with Heat pump/Air handler, I think I have to add a circuit break or something. At least that what I had been told. To other folks on the forum, do you have your advice on choosing a dual-fuel hybrid system vs just heap pump + heap strip? Specifically, anyone in the same area that has done this before? Today the Bryant dealer came and spent only 15 min looking at my attic. He took away my drawing of the 2nd/3rd floor plan with window and room sizing and said he would run it over the weekend through a load calc program to see what's the corect size and propose some setups for me. Thanks for the responses so far! Greg, the Trivection ovens are the same size as the standard convection ovens. Yes, the Advantiums are considerably smaller, which is one reason I'm not interested in them, but the Trivection and Thermadors are not. The Thermador and Trivection are both 4.4 cu ft. Houseful, we start demolition mid-Feb to mid-March, depending on when our contractor's current projects finish up. Then, I'm told, it will take about 8 weeks to complete our project--but we've all heard that before! :-) If it's done by July I'll be happy! Imrainey, I assume your Thermadors were b/f Bosch/Siemens bought them out...I wonder if anything has changed reliability-wise? Does anyone have any experience w/the new Thermadors? Noise? Reliability? Are the CM-series of ovens the "old" ones that had widespread reliability issues (i.e., b/f Bosch/Siemens bought out Thermador)? GE Profile Trivection owners, do you find the GE Profile has "plastic" parts...I read somewhere a while ago on a GW forum that Profiles had plastic where Monograms had metal...is this true? I would think plastic would melt w/high heat so it doesn't really make sense to me...unless they were talking about handles or other outside trim pieces... Lsandler & other GE Monogram owners, are the handles plastic? I wish the ovens came with the "chunky" handles, but the Trivections don't seem to...just like they don't seem to have the full extension glides or self-cleaning racks that the other double ovens (convection) have :-( Any info greatly appreciated!!!

I'm no stranger to garage sales. I've probably had about six or seven. After my last sale, I decided that if I think I can only make about $300 then I'm donating everything. I think I might be able to make about $1000 on this one so it's worth it to me. I excel at organizing for a garage sale. I don't know why, but I kind of enjoy it. I start by clearing out the garage (it's already pretty sparse, we don't store things in the garage except for cars and bikes) about two weeks in advance. Set up the tables, shelves and poles for hanging clothes. Then I put out all the items for sale, then price everything and hang signage. I'll be advertising in the local paper, FB, CL, a local garage sale website and a neighborhood website. I'll have directional signage posted around the neighborhood as well. I'm thinking about creating a one page website listing items for sale and including the address in my other advertising. It won't cost me anything and I can do it pretty fast. However, that might be overkill - still thinking about it. Day of sale, everything in the garage is in place so I just open the doors at 6am and start setting everything out that goes in the driveway. The sale starts at 7am so if anyone shows up early, my policy is to say they can shop but they first have to help me set things out. It works! Then I'll give whoever helped 25% off whatever they buy. I price things to sell, so very little haggling is necessary. If anything is left at about 1pm. I set everything outside and leave a "FREE" sign. By 3pm everything is gone and nothing comes back into the house. I only sell what I intend to not keep. It's a lot of work, but like I said, I kind of enjoy it. It's a fun day too, I offer bottles of cold water, have music playing and get to meet lots of nice people and hear some cool stories. Neighbors usually come by and it's a chance to chat with them as well.
