ge profile???? or electrolux or kitchenaid wall oven

Forgot the wall oven part. I am stressed. Those are the only ones that fit. What would you go with???

I have a GE profile cooktop and I was originally going to purchase the profile convection oven. But then I saw the Electrolux oven. I actually purchased the oven in October. It works like it's suppose to and I love the sliding shelves and bright oven light. Hubby commented tonight that this oven cooked better than the old Whirlpool. This from a man who doesn't cook and very rarely makes any comments.

My Kitchenaid dishwasher, which at the time was rated very high by Consumer Reports, is just a piece of garbage. I purchased it, instead of a Bosch, because of this report. Over the years it has leaked water on my floor, locked up, and is getting progressively noisy.

So I would rule out the Kitchenaid. I have been very happy with my Electrolux oven and GE cooktop. For what's it worth, the Best Buy guy told me (after the purchase) that the Electrolux was a better oven.

We had the Electrolux double oven installed in our new house and my wife and I really love it. The smooth action of the racks is great . Even when the oven is set to Broil the door does not get hot at all. We got the Professional Icon model and it is one beautiful appliance.

I am not sure how useful this will be. I replaced an electric smoothtop (I hate them!) in my house in Oregon with an Electrolux Wavetouch 5 burner dual fuel LP range. I only lived there full time for about a year with the range before relocating to Maine. Am not sure what the fascination with smooth tops, but I ended up with another one in the place I have purchased in Maine, its dual burner died after 4 months of use. I decided to replace it with the 30" all LP Berta range and am taking advantage of the hood promotion (BTW, they retail for $1,200). My place is heated with an LP based European type hydronic radiant heat units and a LP fireplace, so adding cooking should not tax my 300 gallon LP tank, LOL! I was looking for a range that is decidedly "manual" without an electronic interface due to the wind and subsequent power outages that are to common in this part of the state. I was also advised of service problems with the electronic interfaces on the Electroluxes, even though my range in Oregon has not had a service problem as of yet, knock on wood (am a reluctant landlord). Initially, I planned to purchase an Electrolux dual fuel floor model but could not pass up the hood promotion Bertazzoni is currently offering. I am only hoping when the range is installed, the oven temp will be adequately calibrated. I previously owned a Viking, but really did not want to spend the extra money for what I thought would be of marginal benefit. I also do not miss cleaning the Viking grates which were an exercise in weightlifting too! I visited friends of mine a few years ago in Europe and I believe they have a Berta (the knobs are pretty distinctive). I do about 70% rangetop and 30% oven cooking. My old Viking had gas convection and an infrared broiler and I really liked the oven and understand that the Berta is similar, though I believe the heat control is different (regulated by flame instead of on and off).

I throw in my 2 cents here as I have done my share of research. I should say that I am baffled as to why wall ovens are so fracking expensive. If someone can explain that to me I would be grateful. Right or wrong I ordered the single mid-line Bosch. Why? I liked the look & feel of it. None of the "American" brands have a look that I liked and didn't seem appreciably cheaper. FWIW, Bosch and Thermador are made in the same factory and have the same "guts". Thermador has a heavier look and is more automated in its feature set. I really don't care about having a separate convection element. Convection is all about even heat throughout the oven. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm sure the extra element is better but in real world usage I'm a bit skeptical that anyone could taste the difference. IMO, energy use should be a non-concern as what you're after is an excellent end result. I've never heard anyone say, gosh those snickerdoodles are awesome and only used .5 kilowatt hours!! Why someone would use convection when broiling a steak is beyond me. As much as possible I only want to heat one side of the meat at a time. I don't want the underside to be pre-cooked before turning. If I had it to do over again. I think I'd buy the bottom line Bosch, order the telescoping rack separately and save a couple hundred bucks. But that's just me.

Have had a 27" 500 series Bosch wall oven for almost three years and have been pleased in all respects. Quiet fan and large oven capacity for the size. The oven light goes off each time the door is closed so it has to be turned back on if you want it to stay on during baking. That is a pain, but not a major issue. I do have to rotate items once for even baking. If you want items to brown, convection must be used. For convection, Bosch says to reduce temp by 25 degrees and that has worked for me. Overall, the oven has the feel of a quality product. Although not metal, knobs still look like new. I think they'll hold up nicely long term. I don't tempt fate by using the self-clean feature. The interior walls seem to clean easily so I'm OK with that. I had planned to special order an easy glide rack, but the standard racks are hefty and glide nicely so have decided to stay with standard. You might search online to see if you can still special order. Compare prices through different vendors. Of course this review does not speak to possible issues with current models. I've known a few people who have had durability problems with KA ovens and would not go with them again. I feel your pain going through that headache of appliance shopping. Good luck.

I went with the Profile double-oven gas: here are my reasons. I like the smaller-size top oven for daily use, and the lower oven will only be used on occasion, so I'm ok with its location. (There's no room for a wall oven in my tiny kitchen -- and I have no plans to tear out cabinets and rearrange.) I'm a good cook, and I honed my skills on low-end domestic ranges because that's what was available: I don't need a commercial range to cook what I like, and I'm too busy with other aspects of my life to change my cooking style now. I also prefer not to deal with "pro" level BTUS and the ventilation complications they might add. I also am not willing to give up self-cleaning ovens -- which puts many pro-style ranges out of contention. I liked the slide-in setup and the angled control-knob location on the Profile, so that, and the price advantage, led me to choose it over the Cafe. Re: price, I bought mine from a local dealer, and I got the price down a bit by asking them to meet the ajmadison.com price. They didn't quite get there, but I was willing to pay a little extra for local sales/delivery/service reliability. Everyone's situation is a little different, but I found that the Profile slide-in fits best with my kitchen and the way I use it.

Does the icon have the insert to hold the racks??? which must be removed to clean??? and did the extra weight have any impact on install??

I don't know if they are talking about the Icon, but rather the newer Electrolux -- the Icon has been available for some time and is their "pro" line but the newer is the one usually referenced if it doesn't say "Icon" in the posting. Based on my own liking of them when I've seen them and from reading reviews/comments here, I am going to get the Electrolux wall oven, gas cooktop, and dishwasher for our new build. I recommend going to see them all in the store (try Best Buy if it's near you); usually a salesperson can give good info and they aren't on commission so don't push anything at you. You'll be able to open, try the "wave touch", slide out racks, etc.

i just cleaned my new electrolux wall oven, beside the horrible fumes which burned my eyes (yes we ran it like we were suppose to 45 min when we got it) the oven door was boiling hot iended up shutting it off after 1hr &10min anyone else w/ this experience

It does get hotter than normal during cleaning because it cleans by burning, I think up to 800-900 degrees. The burning also can cause noxious fumes. I usually run my exhaust fan This has been the case with every self cleaning oven I have had. I don't know if yours is too hot. I would say call a service tech if you don't think it is right. I wouldn't want to chance a fire.
