I heard something about OTC Latisse, but I wasn't sure if it would be safe. My bet is that it would be easy to bootleg and when you are talking about your eyes, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I've flirted with the idea of asking my doc for a prescription, but I still would rather wait to see the long term results. I used to have very thick, full, loooong lashes and I miss that. But I think I'd ask my doctor about this product before chancing it.

It also mentions it contains castor oil...might as well try that in the meantime!

I tried to see an ingredient list for this product but couldn't get one. I know that Latisse potentially can change eye color if you have light or blue eyes. I don't know if that's a side effect with this one. I check out the ingredients in most cosmetics using the environmental working group cosmetic safety website, it's at www.ewg.org. They probably won't list this exact product but you can look up the toxicity of individual ingredients.

I used RapidLash for about a year and it definitely worked for me. I saw improvement in about a week and a half. By a month, my lashes were so long they were batting on my glasses. It even made some of the sparse areas of my brows grow back in. But after about a year it quit working. I'm thinking of trying it again, it's been a couple of years now. I loved it and was devastated when it quit working.

I haven't used the particular product in the OP's link, but have used Careprost, the generic form of Latisse. It definitely made my lashes grow longer (but didn't dark them). I stopped using it, however, because it also made my eyes perpetually bloodshot, and I'd much rather have clear eyes and a slightly shorter lash length!

I was just thinking about posting a question about the many lash products out there myself! The only product I've used is Rapid Lash, about 18 months ago. It worked some, but I had to quit using it as it was causing small cysts along both my upper and lower lash lines. Since I stopped the cysts gradually went away over, although it took almost 6 month. Any new growth disappeared, as well. Now it seems that my lashes are even more sparse than they were before! Has anyone else encountered any of these problems???

I have been using Latisse for about a year and my eyelashes definitely are longer and fuller. Latisse is pricey but I have found a few tricks to make it last longer. The applicator brushes aren't great and soak up alot of the liquid. A tip is to put a drop or two into the screw on top then dip the brush and apply. Just enough and it doesn't drip into your eyes-mine are blue so I am very careful-don't want to change my eye color! Also, when you fill your script go to the manufacturers website and sign up for Brilliant Distinctions for special offers, coupons, etc. I even got a free prescription! After the first month my doc told me to use it every other day to save $$ and that seems to maintain the growth I have. HTH

I have used careprost for about seven months now. The first few weeks the skin was dry around the eyes but that went away. I have a lot of allergies so I was a bit nervous to try it at first but after reading zillions of reviews I decided to go for it. Except for the brief dry skin thing (keep under eye heavily moisturized) I have had good results. I wouldn't say my lashes are greatly thicker but they are thicker and much longer. At my age they are just right and anymore length or fullness would look ridiculous. I use it on my brows as well because they seemed to be getting sparse, again they are slightly thicker but much longer and I have to trim them up more often. I use a good quality very thin paint brush as my applicator. It took me about six weeks to start seeing a real difference but there were small changes before that, at twelve weeks they were at the peak of how long and thick they were to be. I can't remember the week, maybe around 6 or 7 but I had a few rebel lashes on each eye that did not follow the same curve as the rest of the lashes so I had to use an eyelash curler before mascara.

Latisse works for me with zero downside other than cost. My derm sells it with a very skinny brush and says toss out those that come with it. Worked great at lengthening and so-so at thickening, but good enough to make me happy. I used every morn, and added my eye makeup within minutes. After a month or so I maintained with 3 times per week. Have not used in 8 mos. and still have longer lashes, but need to begin using again.
FYI : Read that Allergan( Latisse) has stronger (different?) version in trials for hair replacement.

A quick thought, for those of you with hair loss -- this can be a symptom of thyroid problems. Esp. hair loss at outer edge of eyebrows. Might want to look into your thyroid function to rule it out as a cause of hair loss before starting any lash or brow growth products.

Very good point judithn, everyone should get a full blood works done every year anyway but many do not.
