This is the way I'll make French Toast from Now On!
Incredible! Everyone who was there wants the recipe. They all went back for 2nds. There were 5 of us and there was only one piece left. That's pretty good considering all the other food that was there, grits with cheese and sausage, Eggs with onions, peppers, tomatoes, bacon and cheddar cheese, Banana bread, Fresh fruit, Danishes, Coffee cakes, Mimosas and Coffee. ' Wow Wee! What a great recipe! Thanks Woodie!!
Pressure! Shaun has pressure? What about me? Oh Momma - such pressure every time somebody makes this :)
It's Arthur Schwartz from WOR New York talk radio that should be feeling the pressure! That's where my version of the recipe came from. I love that its called Woodie's Creme Brulee French Toast, LOL!
Shaun, is there a recipe for the grits/cheese/sausage? I would love that one.
OH yes - the gal who makes these makes them for us every time we all get together! They are delicious!
Sausage and Grits
1 cup uncooked grits 12-oz pork sausage, defrosted 1 onion, chopped 4 1/2 oz can green chilies, chopped 1 stick butter 2 eggs, beaten 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 325. Cook grits in 4 cups salted water until thick. Saute sausage, breaking it into small pieces. Add onion and chilies; drain. Add butter, eggs and cheese to grits, Combine grits w/sausage mixture. Pour into 13 x 9 inch casserole dish. Bake 1 hr. Can be refrigerated up to 2 days before baking. Freezes well.
Ohhh. I've made the French toast--so so good but so so bad!
That grits recipe looks like what my grandma used to make as a side for ham (without the sausage). Doesn't look like health food either, but I am certainly taking note of it!
