Oh, I am truly drooling over your master bath. I tried so hard for months to get my contractor agree to columns around my tub, and in the end he told me we were too far along to insert them! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.........

thanks. We hope to be in by mid January, but that may be only in my dreams. LOL! We'll move in without trim and doors if need be, but a 37 foot motorhome gets old after awhile. We will definitely be ready for some elbow room by then. :o)

dixiedoodle~ I hope you'll get to this stage soon. Remember my agony with the SL idea house plan we bought, just trying to get the original architects office to redraw to my wishes? Well.... that didn't work out, but this surely did. And I'm so glad... wouldn't change a thing in hind sight. So... have faith. You'll get there soon. We'll be wildly clapping when you do.

OH my gosh...I love love LOVE your house! I also thought the outside was breath taking and the inside does not disappoint let me tell you! It is hard for me to pick a favorite area because I love each one you posted but I think I would be spending my time in the garden room. BUT...that master bath!

thanks so much kelntx. I agree with you. I really love the garden room too. It's all the windows that get me. The other side of the house has the same amount of windows, but is the breakfast room and my office/scrapping room. I really tried to put the kitchen in that space. Oh how I tried. But there just was not enough wall space, and one wall was a supporting wall, so I couldn't move it back like I wanted to. LOL!

summer~ not sure how I missed your post. Thanks! Yes, some things we have wished we could do, but we're "past the point" to be able to easily do it. I suppose that (along with budget) is what forces some of us to just finish already. LOL! :o)

What a great home this is going to be! You were really brave to jump into the middle of someone else's build but it is obviously going to be to your benefit. The details throughout are stunning, especially that Master Bath--can't wait to see it finished.

onourway~ Thanks! Yes, we had a touch of buyers remorse the night we closed on the house. :o~ But, we decided to be brave, and this house was everything we were looking for (and then some... LOL). And now we are thrilled, and so happy to be living in this area!

We are having lots of fun planning and designing and taking down walls and adding walls. It's almost easier buying it at this stage, because there is no "visualization" required.. it's sitting in front of you in 3D!

The perimeter of our bath was copied from a few magazine photo I've had for a few years. I don't recall which magazines they came from, but I always liked the layouts. So we tweaked them a bit, and suddenly had our own design. :o) I'm a self admitted copier. I wasn't blessed with the creative gene, so I require lots of pictures and magazines to get me thru. ha, ha. ;o)

Here's are the original photos that we based our bathroom on (sortof).

This first one was the perimeter layout on "his" side.

Then I needed a shower idea...... and had saved this photo from yet another magazine (not sure sources.. sorry)...

And I wanted french doors for a linen closet, and had saved this photo in another magazine long ago....

And thus our master bath was "born". The only "original" thing was the double sided fireplace, and I've seen that in enough models to know I wanted one someday. I guess that wasn't an "original" idea either. LOL!

So.... I admit. I am not a clever person. I am an unashamed avid copier, and just do enough tweaking to suit my taste. Am I still allowed on this board?! :O) LOL!

I love your house! I love the view you posted in the other thread! It is just beautiful. You have worked very hard to make this house what you want, and have clearly succeeded. The arches are just lovely, as is everything else. Fingers crossed that you make your hopeful move in day!!

Thanks so much Amy. We really do love it here. I am trying to enjoy the building "process" instead of wishing it away to the point of being done. LOL. :o) On the other hand, I am really hoping we make our date too. Winter in an RV... well, it'll get old.

There will be several tradespeople here on Monday ( supposedly) so things should be hopping around here. Can't wait to see our shower take shape. Why is that exciting in the least? Hmmmm.... :o)..... still thinking on that one ........... LOL!

LOL-I was perusing through things as we're getting packed up to move in (Yeah!) and I found some of my old 'inspiration' clips and pics. It was funny to see how some things turned out exactly the same and others are a variation of the original theme. Most of my final colors stayed true, but textures and shapes changed.
I like the arch work you have throughout. I would have liked that in our place, but it didn't really fit the plan (or our area) that well. But I'm happy with how ours turned out. I will post pics in a few weeks.

Can't wait to see your photos. So happy for you!! Yes, it's funny how some ideas just don't pan out, and others are almost exact copies of the original inspiration photo. I think that is some of the excitement of building.... you just don't really know for sure what you will end up with. LOL! ;o)

Love your master bath and I can't wait to see it as it gets more complete! With inspiration photos like those, I just know it'll be elegant and beautiful...ooooohh and those gorgeous columns you have at the tub! :)

Thank you! The tile guys installed the backerboard in the master shower yesterday, much to my delight. The "shampoo niches" ended up much lower than we hoped for, because everywhere we wanted to go was piping. Sometimes you just don't realize until after the fact. If we'd thought about it, we could have asked the plumber to put his pipes on the other side of the studs. Simple solution, but too late at this point. So our shampoo holders will be for chihuahuas to access..... LOL!

The only other "glitch" was the tile store was unable to find the 1x2 harlequin (rhomboid) tile that we were doing on the front of the tub step and deck, as well as the shampoo insets (which of course are so low now, who cares about them!!). Instead, we are having to go with the small 1 inch square tiles. They are nice too. Just messed a bit with the pattern we had planned.

kygirl~ Thanks so much. It's great to see you on here. I think of you when I'm on here (as well as some of our "old gang") and wonder how you are enjoying your new home. Hope each day is better than the one before. I'm sure you're thrilled with your new home. It was always one of my fav's on here!

Yes, we will divide our time up between CA and the south. There are good points to each place, so for now, we will just go back and forth as we please. Luckily we homeschool, so we can choose where we want to be and when... to some degree.

Notice how positive I am sounding? Despite the fact that our drywall finishers didn't feel the need to arrive today?! They showed yesterday after waiting on them for 2 weeks and them consistently saying "we'll be there in 2 days". Yesterday they used their machines to lay the tape and mud the nails/screws over on the entire first floor. Very exciting. Now today, they are AWOL again. I'm beginning to wonder how it would look if we just went ahead and painted. LOL!

So... wish us luck. Now I know what fellow posters go thru. We're beginning to experience some empty promises. A bit irritating, but life goes on. :O)

Actually, I think you avoided the worst part of the build by buying this house. And I can see how the former owner could have run out of money!

It's totally gorgeous. We don't have many new mansions going up here in the South these days, so it's good to see yours. You will decorate it throughout for Christmas and put it on the local tour of homes I hope?

I'm an Atlanta native, old girl now. Trying to preserve a different pace here that I can at least occasionally dip into. Welcome, ya'll. You must be hungry for a little something. We've got pie and a couple of Mother's cakes; or some leftover homemade biscuits we can heat up and have with Aunt Tee's homemade preserves and butter. I'll put on coffee or there's sweettea if you'd rather....

pinktoes~ Oh, how sweet. Thanks for the warm welcome. We are so in love with the south, as everyone seems to just greet us with open arms. We are beyond thrilled to be here, and to have found this home that is a perfect fit for our large family.

I haven't made it to Atlanta, but did go to a design firm not far from Atlanta. I've been wanting to go antique/fabric shopping in your city, but haven't found time to get down there yet. It sounds like a decorating paradise. :o)

Your food sounds great. I'll take a biscuit with preserves AND butter (why not?!!), and coffee with a bit of cream and sugar, please. LOL! I must say I am acquiring a taste for sweet tea, something they don't have in my part of CA.... YUM!
