I have the FP dish drawers (love them) and I used to have a full sized bosch in my old kitchen. I did find the capacity of the viking dishwasher in my hunt to be pretty impressive but I remember the salesperson saying it was a rebranded something (though I can't remember what). Anything with a deep bottom to it will work for you, and that is what I liked about my bosch, though the door was only about 3 inches off the floor when open, and this proved to be uncomfortable for loading and surprisingly a trip hazard. I love the functionality of the FP but for stockpots it is clearly not as good. I know a lot of people here swear by Miele, but I think you should probably just go on your measurements at the store. Hope this is helpful.

The upper tier Mieles would be fine as their racks are convertible to allow basically no tines to obstruct pots and pans.

---Miele would not be "overkill" if it lasted longer than 9 years.....These are designed to be a 20 year dishwasher and fits all your other criteria for quietness and integration and have flexible racks as you go up in the line....

Well, what about another Bosch since you're already familiar with the brand. The way I see it, if money is not an issue, then buy the Miele and don't worry about it. If you want to save a penny and still get great performance, then Bosch really can't be beat in terms of value.

I'll probably look at Bosch and Asko, too, but I thought Bosch had come down quite a bit in quality the last few years? Might not matter - assuming there isn't a huge difference in the way they load, we'll probably get the Miele.

If Bosch quality has dramatically decreased in recent years, I haven't read much beyond anectodal evidence. As far as I know, the three best DW manufacturers widely available in the US are Miele, Bosch, and KA. Asko is also mentioned in the same discussions. I could be wrong, so maybe someone can correct me.

I have the Miele Futura Diamond, and it works great for big pots and pans.
The middle rack is adjustable in height and removable for really tall items. Never had to remove it for my pasta pot though.

You're doing the right thing by taking your pots to the store, play with the racks and see for yourself.
And don't worry, Mieles are very sturdy, best quality I've seen in any dishwasher. Plus you will love the LED lights inside, like a fridge you'll wonder how you did without it ;-)
