Ideas for glass bottles from airline liquor?

Anyone got any creative ideas of what to do with alot of small glass bottles ,( airline liquor size), other than re-cycling them?

I have a bunch, and expert to have lots more!

If you want to sell some of them let me know. I have been hunting for little bottles and have had no luck finding them.

Maybe make a mobile with alternating strings of glass beads

Sandy, You need a dolly at your house. I ruined my back and ended up having surgery. But having a dolly would eleviate concerns of moving things around. I am going to take my homemade bottle tree and put a plastic garbage bag in a large plastic pot that a tree came in. Then I am going to fill it with cement mix and my crape myrtle branch. Then I can put it in the ground in a hole until I get ready to move it somewhere else. It is my intention to poly the tree branch first or maybe paint it a color. I think the metal ones that you have ordered are going to be easy to push down in the ground and move around to another spot as well. Susie

Carter's inks came in that particular style (referred to as ring shoulder cone) from the 1870s until about 1920. So, it's not that new. You can date it, not by whether the rim was applied or molded in, but by what kind of stopper would have appeared in the bottle. This is not a screw top, and Carter went to screw lids around 1920. It was corked. That shape was used Jaynboro, because it was hard to tip when you filled or dipped a pen. If you look at drinking vessels used on ships, you would also see the conical design for the same reason. Even though older than Linda suggested, it still isn't big $..........going rate on someplace like ebay is around ten dollars. But, it's cute.

Hi. All the methods you have posted here work to some extent, depending on the type of dirt, soiling or hazing, and the bottle itself. Mineral hazing or mineral etching can never be removed unless you use drastic measures (ie) heating the glass to just below the melting point. This in itself causes many other problems, warping etc. I have over 1000 bottles from the 1600s to the 1950s. I do not clean them past just getting the dirt & grime off. Some embossed bottles that are clear I clean a bit more so they can be read. But other than that. Enjoy your bottle with it's patina. That is just one part of it that makes it old and desirable to most collectors

How to remove labels from glass bottles

Best way I've found is oxiclean - add a scoop or two to really hot water in a bowl, add bottles, and let set. I usually forget about it and wind up leaving for a day or two, but the labels usually float to the surface at some point. If not, they always peel off nicely. If there's any residue, it scrubs off easily. Just don't let the bottles dry before removing labels, or you're back in the same spot you were originally... As a bonus, I had burned something in a stainless steel bowl and the resulting soot or whatever wasn't scrubbing off, and figuring the bowl was already ugly, I used it for the first oxyclean-label-removing experiment and it cleaned the bowl too! Also, the solution seems to be more-or-less reusable; if you have a bunch of bottles, you can put a few in the bowl, remove labels, and put a few more into the same bowl and solution.

Maybe by dipping them in paint, make tiny flower vases. Or paint/glue items on them will help. Add ribbon bows, beads etc.
Because of the weight of the flowers, you could experiment with tiny flowers, ferns, greens etc.

hi, I could,nt resist this a friend when we in our 20,s decorated his christmas tree with full ones ,a lot of them maybe 50, hung them from a tree with a bow on top of each then drank a few a day during holiday shut from christmas till new yrs. Rick

I used insulin bottles to make small hummingbird feeders. I think the same concept can be used on small liquor bottles - cleaned good, of course - don't want any hummies flying drunk :o) Am sure if you can find a stopper that would fit the different shapes and colors would look might pretty.
