I wonder if the glow int he dark red powder at this site would turn the inside of a clear bottle red. I'm going to get some glow paint and powder and experiment when the weather gets better here. I need some of the straight forward paint for a project at work, and I was thinking of trying some blue powderinside of clear bottles to add some night time pizazz to my blue bottle tree. Apparently you can spray adhesive inside a bottle shake it around and shake out the excess and reuse. I was going to try it wiht poly spray instead, thinking of holding up outdoors.

We ordered one too! I have been wanting to build one, but I like the "twistyness" of this one. We have been saving Carol's blue wine bottles! (She loves her wine! I love my Bud Light but don't think I'll put my Bud Light cans on the tree... LOL) We found some neat blue wine bottles at the liquor stores in Canada when we were there on our anniversary. Can't wait to get our tree! Now, we need to count our bottles. I don't think we have 15... Carol may have to drink more wine! LOL Thanks for sharing, Karen! Did you see the metal bears on the site? I think they are cuter in person...and would look cool bare even. Now I could not find the little screws....finally after tearing apart the plastic and small pieces of cardboard, I found them in the bigger box taped to the side. Telling so maybe you will not panic like I did.

I ordered two and got them last week. I can hardly wait to set them up...if and when the snow goes away...and stays away!! Until then, they'll stay in the garage with all the other neat things I've been picking up!

I'm toying with the idea of setting the trees in big planters or something, so they can be moved around. Embedded in what? Cement would be too heavy to move around. I'll have to work on this one! Maybe I should just stick them in the ground! LOL

Sandy, You need a dolly at your house. I ruined my back and ended up having surgery. But having a dolly would eleviate concerns of moving things around. I am going to take my homemade bottle tree and put a plastic garbage bag in a large plastic pot that a tree came in. Then I am going to fill it with cement mix and my crape myrtle branch. Then I can put it in the ground in a hole until I get ready to move it somewhere else. It is my intention to poly the tree branch first or maybe paint it a color. I think the metal ones that you have ordered are going to be easy to push down in the ground and move around to another spot as well. Susie

Susie, trust me when I say...our dolly gets used a whole lot!! We have a ton of heavy stuff, and I don't know what we'd do without it! We also use a wagon, a big cart and the wheelbarrow to move things.

I'm wondering if those bottle trees just stuck in the ground will be sturdy enough to support the weight of 15 bottles. I seriously doubt it. Especially after a rain and the ground is soggy. I'm not taking any chances with all these bottles that took so long to collect!

Setting the base in a small amount of cement that can then be "planted" is a good idea!

I can hardly wait for spring!!

I got mine last Saturday, put them together and put one in my front flowerbed, it isn't very sturdy with the weight of the bottles, so I placed large rocks around the base to keep it from tipping over. It still doesn't seem too secure, but I will have to come up with a better plan. If you have any ideas, please let us know. They are pretty even by themselves.

I pushed mine into wet soil and it was a bit unsure. I think I will put a u-shaped piece of pipe or metal over the "U" of the bottle tree. Then it can be pulled up and moved. I put the heavier bottles on the bottom and smaller lighter weights on top. Maybe before putting screws in and limbs on you could put the bottom piece thru the hole in a pot. Then push it into the ground and plant the pot or put stones in it. Could put a solar light in the pot also to shine up on the tree at night.

Oh, Karen, we love our bottle tree stand! Thank you for giving us the idea! Here is a picture with our junk train mascot JT on our bottle tree. She was soooooo helpful in setting up the tree! I am going to GEII the attachments to the tree and probably cement it into the ground. The other idea I have is to pour sand into the hollow tubes to make it more sturdy. WE LOVE IT! I have mine up but the bottles are dirty from the shed and some have labels...if it warms up soon, I will be out with a washtub cleaning them....maybe the rain will do most of it. But I have soo many bottles left....hmmm what to do. I will for sure figure it out...maybe I will hang the larger ones from the slatts in the patio cover..hmmm.

Kirk, I bet you can find a use for the bud light cans! Make wind spinners with them! :)
