Problems with Hotmail account

Computer is XP, and up until about a week ago, no problems. SRT which is our phone company is also my email account. SRT and Hotmail are fighting again, and we were notified that both companies are working on it. Now I cannot get any incoming mail. I have check about everything I can with Hotmail, but do not want to start deleting, messing around with stuff because I really am not computer smart. I did change (hopefully) any responses from Garden Web should be picked up by my other email.

How can I get Hotmail off my computer.

Hotmail is not on your computer: it's not a program that is installed. It's accessible when you use your browser and visit hotmail.com. It's like saying: How can I remove Google or Yahoo from my computer? It's the same thing, you can't because they are not installed.

It sounds to me like this is a unique problem, probably caused by your phone company. Even if you were computer savvy, it would not be something you could resolve on your end. It sounds to me like you need to get on the phone and have SRT fix whatever this weird conflict is.

Isp branded hotmail very likely is pop3 into her Outlook or OutlookExpress email program.

check your settings, I have had a hotmail account for years and it does not do what you are saying, I currently have 20plus pages of read emails. I know it is time to clean it out but just have not had time. I have never seen one that deleted mail that way, has to be something in the settings. do you not like thunderbird? you can still use it. You could use another web client and let it collect your hotmail email for you and keep it there one I use is inbox.com and gmx.com. I like gmx.com quite a bit. I have it set up to get my email from other accounts and keep it there so I can view it all at one spot. To do that all you need to do is give it the username and password to the email account you want it to connect to and collect the email from.

michael- The typical reason that you would have to login to Hotmail each time is if your browser is set to automatically clear cookies when you close it. When you re-open the browser, it does not have the identifying cookie in memory that allows you to get in to your email without logging-in again. However, I am concerned about the second message you posted. Your bank account would have nothing to do with this. Did you by any chance respond to an email that asked you to provide info on your banking login? If so, that was undoubtedly a scammer who may now have access to your bank account; banks never request any details like this in an email. Please clarify what you meant by that second post of yours.

I have used hotmail as my primary email since 97, I started out as an msn dial up customer and got the hotmail and msn email addies, I use the hotmail daily. I am now with Verizon fios which also has msn so I still have all my msn addies. I also have the msn browser which I love to use to view my hotmail. I have not tried the hotmail live since I like the one I have so well. My other fave is using gmail through mozilla thunderbird. Works super good and no ads at all plus all the good points of gmail and the ease of thunderbird and of course there are add ons for thunderbird just like for firefox. If you already have a gmail account I would say try downloading and setting up thunderbird to get your gmail and use it. The directions to do that are on the gmail site under the settings tab, using Pop and Imap, thunderbird's new version is supposed to be set up following the imap directions. It is very simple. Fair enough. Now let's wait to see if the OP can furnish some more specifics. I still suspect that her ISP may need to disentangle this regardless, But I've been wrong before....

I am not clear on this so to be sure; do you have your on-board e-mail client configured to access Hotmail? If so, though it would be a temporary inconvenience have you tried to access Hotmail.com manually via your browser to see if the perceived conflict does still exist?

If Hotmail is separate from as DA mentioned on-board e-mail client then take everything you want out of hotmail (contacts,messages,etc.)by either forwarding to another mail account or delete.
Then do not open that account under that name etc.(I read 120 days) just forget about it and it shall be removed after about 270 days due to inactivity.
