I need help please.

I have downloaded some videos which usually go into my temp folder and now the temp folder has changed and I cannot open it.

When i try i am asked to choose what program i want to open in this file.

I have tried searching my computer for videos but can't find them anywhere, how could they have disapeared completely, this has never happened before in the years i have been doing this .

I have deleted nothing...this has me completely baffled!

I have run my anti virus program, that shown no problems.

Big big query here, has anyone here any ideas.....

What software are you using to play the video? Windows Media Player?

Yes coralred,
I use WMP, I can open the temp with WMP and there is one video on it but not the ones I downloaded Saturday, there is no trace of them in my computer, there was after I downloaded them because I took a look, I stopped several from fully downloading because of my low broadband data coming towards the end of my monthly period but now all I successfully downloaded are gone as well. I searched WMP files , but nothing in library at all, only the one I mentioned. I am totally confused and did not think it possible that they are not somewhere in my computer, I have searched everything but cannot find a trace....so very strange this!

Never heard of an oak with powdery mildew. Doesn't look like it from the picture, but could the compost have been piled around the trunk? No chemical fertilizers were used too close to the tree? Scarlet oak is vulnerable to gypsy moth caterpillars, Chloris and oak wilt, but it doesn't look like either. Fortunately I wouldn't think powdery mildew would kill an oak. A healthy oak can probably be defoliated and have to make a second crop of leaves every few years and shrug it off. If we are confident it is a scarlet oak and powdery mildew, hosing down the tree might help. However, this would actually make some other fungus worse, and dessert adapted Californian species wouldn't like that.

It wouldn't be hard to lift them and replant them on the surface as GG48 says, but they will find their way there probably by the end of next growing season anyway. Plants know what they need and most can respond, despite the silly things humans do to them. The new rhizomes will grow toward the surface, at least as long as they're not too wet and rot. This isn't likely, bearded iris are known as relatively cast iron. I, myself, have found iris in the woods, where there hadn't been a house in seventy years. She's right though, that may certainly affect their next season bloom (which is why I hedged my bets on my earlier post).

Go to "Your Profile" and select "edit profile". Change name publicly displayed to something that reflects you. It doesn't need to be your real name. I would also select an avatar picture. Mine is night blooming cerus.

Your house is very cute, the new steps look great. The two brown posts look fine and if changing it means losing your swing, I would leave them, as is, unless you need something for structural integrity. You could add a third post on the other side of the door if you want, which wouldn't affect the swing. Like others have said, adding landscaping will really improve the look of things and your eyes will be drawn there. You could put some large pots on the porch and plant vines to climb the posts, which will look nice from the yard and also from inside the house. These are clematis; beautiful blooms, a few are evergreen, won't hurt the wood.

The video files you downloaded may not necessarily have WMP as extension, it can be AVI. MPG etc... Try to download a file again and take note of which folder it's being downloaded to, search that folder.

coralred,
I have done as you said and I still get nothing, I tried to paste the temp file from my c.drive but it will not paste.
Blowed if I know, this has me so confused, I have tried to open every conceivable file on the computer without success.

So as you noted Coralred's suggestion and did a second download you should have noted the suffix. If so........

XP Start/Search and type *.mpg or whatever the suffix was
Vista (I think) Start/Accessories/Search and type the same

The suffix is the 3 digit part after the dot on any file. The start is the wild card so will find all files with that suffix. Alternately if you know the name but not the suffix the type movie.*

You ran your anti virus but did you also run any antimalware type program, seems like you are possibly infected with something other than a virus.

Also by default the extension for known file formats are omitted so you may need to enable it back under the File options.

Coralred and Owbist,
I have tried all you both suggested but to no avail.
This has me totally gob smacked!
My antimalware engine Spybot shows nothing and it is up to date as I write.
This is a large file so should be easy to find using the methods you both have explained.
It is just like someone has deleted it from my PC.
I don't have it tied to other peoples computers, only my ISP, I am on satellite broadband and have never had a virus of any kind.
Thank you both for trying to help, I think I will toss this into the too hard basket and just get on with my life.

I can't quite follow what you said originally,, something caught my eye wrong and poluted my thought processes.

Maybe I might run the checkdisk and also run SFC ... System file checker if your 'folder changed'.
