CD Drive not accessible....

FYI,It is labeled F:\ Then it says "Incorrect Function" and then OK.

I just used it the other day to get some documents off of a CD that I had stored, the same disk is in the slot, inserted correctly. The CD drive plays music, but will not let me open the CD with documentation. What is going on?

Also, I can not open the documents that I copied from the disk. I get this message.... The drive or network connection that the shortcut Shortcut to .lnk refers to is unavailable. Make sure the the disk is properly inserted and the network resource is available, and then try again.

OK

I need this for my work.....HELP

Sidnee,

I am assuming you published the documents at work and are trying to open them up at home. On the system in question do you have the same application used to create them?

What type of format are we talking about?

Potentially there could be an file type association.

DA error.

You should be able to right click on the file and select 'send to' from the context menu. That should give you to option to send it to the flash drive.

Does your PC have software to play DVDs? What operating system does it have? If it's Windows, it probably has media player, but it may not recognize that it should launch for the DVD. I prefer vlc media player, which is a free download. It does a lot more than just DVD playing, but it does a good job with DVDs. Here is a link that might be useful: VLC home page

I wanted to thank each of you for your suggestions about solving my problem. I tried each of your suggestions but without success, I wound up calling tec support and talked with a young man in the Philippines, he was very patient and got me through the process and I got the printer installed. Word of caution, read carefully the instructions when installing new hardware and when it says not to hook up the machine to the usb port before being told to do so during the installation process, DON'T DO IT. I was careless and it caused me a lot of aggravation........

Mike, I have an Inspiron 1545 - is this what you mean? Let me know if you need more info. I would still like to download the driver for my laptop, but how do I do that? I do consider myself "adventerous", but not when it comes to computers, haha. owbist: thanks so much for the info, but like I told Mike, I don't feel comfortable when working on the hardware in computers. This morning I'm NOT able to burn a CD, but right before that I was able to play a movie. I don't know what is going on. Now I'm sure I'm not able to watch a movie either. So, how do I "download" this driver file. I see it, and it is actually in my download folder, but when I try to download it, it says there are no files to download. When it says download, it says "save file", not RUN, like I want it too. Any suggestions on this? Thanks! I appreciate all the advice.
