Hi Sue, Thanks for calling me a "veteran" on here. Yup, I'm the one she was talking with and about, e-mailing on the subject of all the want requests and nothing to trade. I too think the majority of it is generational, on the other hand my 26 year old daughter has more to say on the subject and doesn't think it is generational at all. The gyst of her comments are lazy, more interested in free and not the caring about the rules etc. and she also thinks they instruction post is kind of ignored because it is written by another member and not the owners of the forum and many who post to the threads and just offer up the seeds despite the rules. Be that as it may, I personally don't' mind a cold e-mail from a veteran member or one that has been a member for a while. What do object to is the cold e-mail, especially from someone that has just registered within the last few weeks and sends me a list of seeds wanted that is either off of an old post for SASBE/BEAP seeds that is marked closed, or did a search and found that an old outdated trade list, (my trade list always has a date of when it was last updated), and is requesting a long list of seeds off of that old, outdated seed list and to add to that, requesting seeds that where clearly marked for trades only. I'm also finding a "newbies" just aren't reading what is posted in a trade/SASBE/BEAP offer when I post one. Simple things like, please post here on this thread, even if you are sending me an e-mail. If e-mailing me, please include your GW name as well. I've spent more time responding to e-mails with no GW name included in the e-mail and no post on the thread, that I have not posted a new offer yet. This time I will add to my post the following, if you e-mail me without including a GW name, I will not respond to the e-mail. I may be a veteran, but I still don't like rude people and those that can' follow a simple request and make me waste my time going back and fourth with e-mails to find out who you are and do you have a GW member page. Oh, the other thing that really drives me nuts, is saying I hold seeds for 2 weeks from the date of confirming the BEAP and doing so in an e-mail and then never getting the BEAP. I've received seeds from trades in all the methods & styles mentioned above. They all appear to be successful and allow seedaholics to choose the method that works best for them. Plastic baggies - I've found what works best for me are the smaller 2" x 3" zip-envelopes, also available at Walmart if you hit it when they're in stock, 100 @ $1.00. If I see them late in the season, I buy multiple packages. I use sticky labels, also available from Walmart, that can be printed from my computer. I include botanical name, common name, cultivar name, USDA hardiness zone, height, light & moisture requirements, bloom time & color along with any extra pertinent plant or growing information. If there's room, I'll include year harvested in brackets. Before mailing, I Google the seed name and do a little research so the information on the label is current, however I sometimes wonder if that information changes as time goes by. Mailing seeds - I use bubble mailers of different sizes but usually the smaller 5" x 7" size. Bubble mailers I receive get torn apart/cut up or reused as is if they're not too travel-damaged. For single trades I'll tape the seed envelope to a piece of recycled bubble envelope and tuck it inside a standard envelope with "PLEASE DO NOT MACHINE - SEEDS" on the front in the lower left-hand corner. After 2 years of sending seeds via mail in this way, I've not heard of anyone receiving crushed seeds. When harvesting seeds over the course of the season, I set them in paper bowls or spread them on paper platters that are placed on shelf units inside the garage to dry. This also allows any crawlies that may have taken up residence inside the seedpods to depart the premises of their own free will. Once thoroughly dry, seeds are stored in small plastic salad dressing cups with clear, snap-on lids I'm able to buy from the cafeteria where I work. They last from year to year and are re-used. Generally I try to not have seeds leftover from year to year despite evidence that they remain viable for many years. This thread is a good idea and hopefully we'll hear from plenty of folks with other ideas/methods for seed preservation and sharing.

From Firefox, I was having to click the back button twice, sometimes thrice, to navigate, but not in IE 7. In IE, I was experiencing a momentary pause when I clicked the back button. The latest fix did not resolve my problems with Firefox, although I cleared cache and restarted. I noticed two interesting things from Firefox: Lots of transferring/connecting to URL activity when navigating to a page and double, sometimes triple, instances of the page in the Firefox recent pages dropdown upon initial page load. I did some testing and saw that the back button actually navigated through the duplicate page instances, making it appear to do nothing. This all made me think it had something to do with Gardenweb ads loading, so I installed Mozilla ad blocker just now. (I never installed it before because I wasn't getting annoying pop-ups or anything in vanilla Firefox.) Anyways, that did the trick, and my back button works perfectly now.
