can't install roxio w/ vista

Hi - I need some help again. I cannot install my Roxio Photo Suite w/ my new laptop. I keep getting a message that says it is not compatable with Vista. Since I live with this program and constantly use it - is there any way to make it compatable ? I vaguely remember something about a program to help switch programs from XP to Vista. Am I dreaming? Please advise. Thanks so much, Debbie.

According to Roxio, PhotoSuite is not compatible with Vista. Here is the link: http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/General%20Information/000004GN

Don't know which version you have, but here are the minimum requirements for PhotoSuite 8:

* Windows XP Professional, Home or MCE Edition, with Service Pack 2 or later

* Microsoft Windows Media Player 10.0 or later
* CD/DVD recordable drive
* Color video display adapter with at least 16MB VRAM (64MB recommended)
* 1024 x 768, 16-bit color graphics card
* 16-bit Windows-compatible sound card
* 1GB of free hard disk space for typical installation of all components
* 1GB of free hard disk space for every 5 minutes of video (for video capture)
* QuickTime 6.5 software recommended

Use Windows Update to ensure you have the latest Service Packs and fixes for your operating system, and to get the latest versions of Media Player, DirectX, and Internet Explorer.

Some video, audio, and image formats require QuickTime Player 6.5 or later (free download from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/). Install QuickTime using the Recommended Installation option.

I'm not aware of any program that would be helpful. But, I'm not the absolute authority. Perhaps you are thinking of a hardware check link or program to determine if your current pc would support Vista. Just a guess. :-)

I would think Roxio is working on a Vista compatible release. Perhaps a letter or email to them expressing your disappointment.

Thanks - I was hoping to get away cheap but no such luck. I guess I'll have to buy the newest version. Thanks again, Debbie/.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop. Click here Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When evaluating software or hardware, it makes sense to ignore the popular press, especially the tech blogs and to an extent, consumer opinion. Change is difficult for us humans and the early reviews of XP bear it out. Below is a snapshot of cnet's Windows XP review back in 2001. I got to this page using the web archive. Note that cnet bemoans the fact that a user can only load XP on one computer. Really cnet? And note user opinions: 48% disliked XP after its first several months. Microsoft was roundly criticized for not having an OS that would work across all platforms: computer, tablet and mobile phone. Now Win 8 is negatively reviewed for not having a start button. Anyone remember when the criticism was that Windows had a start button? I use Win7 home premium on this computer and Win7 Pro on my daytrading rig. The next computer I buy will have Windows 8. owbist ... my laptop is vista x86...the program was purchased at Best Buy and worked perfect without any problems for a year until Kaspersky found it to be vulnerable at which time I tried to download the update from roxio's web site and was informed I received a trojan which was taken of. The reason I wanted uninstalled was to possibly get the updated needed when reinstalling. I have included the website of how I uninstalled the program. http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/kb/Creator/000127CR&PARAMS= The only error message I am getting when trying to reinstall is "uninstall is incomplete"....that's it...nothing else. If possible I will wait to use Revo until I see if you are able to make heads or tails out of this uninstall. thanks everyone.

The whole purpose of the pop up asking if you wanted to proceed is intended to protect you. It is confirming that you and not some Trojan is in charge and wanting the process to proceed. It would be far easier if you had copied all those programs to a CD, DVD, external hard drive or even a thumb drive. That way the pop up would have appeared once as you copied everything over and you would save quite a bit of time. Remember, the bad guys are indeed getting far smarter each day. Keeping ahead of them is a huge challenge.
