Roxio 10 Nightmare

I've been helped so many times on this board so hoping someone can help with this. I tried to update Roxio because it showed as a vulnerable program & while updating I got a trojan. Kaspersky took care of the trojan but can't completely remove roxio. Ran Malwarebytes & PC-cillin so no trojan for sure.

I called them and they walked me through the uninstall for 2 hours which included messing with my registry. Add that the call support cost $$$$!!!!!...Add that they couldn't help in completely removing this crap of a program from my laptop to reinstall. (I know why do I want to reinstall a crappy program but I have to say it was great at making my music cd's). I finally used the MS Windows Installer Clean Up Utility but still parts hang on. Tried CCleaner but still no luck.

Can anybody help?

Mom you should try to explain to us what you have removed and what is remaining. Especially what happened inside the registry. Otherwise we might be typing out all manner of instructions for things already fixed.

Is this XP or Vista?
Is Roxio the free version of paid for?
Have you shut the computer down completely and restarted - not a reboot?
Did everything start as you expected?
If not what happened?
Enquiring minds need to know.

Try the Revo uninstaller that many others have promoted here over the last many months, never used it myself but if those who have recommended it say it is good then have no fears and give it a try.

agree try using REVO it is an excellent free program.

If Roxio caused you those kinds of problems then it is not very compatible with that particular system, I would go with a different program there are so many available to choose from. Check with gizmo for the most highly recommended ones.

just look for the type of programs you want from his site, he reviews and recommends the top picks.

I happened to find this thread searching for answers to my own LG problem. The old "get what you pay for" adage doesn't seem to apply to LG and I will NEVER buy another LG product again. (was considering their french door refrigerator - since like the washer, was also rated #1by Consumer Reports - with matching stoves and oven but not now!) I purchased the LG Tromm WM2688HWM washer with matching dryer and after only 5 years - 1 week after my extended warranty expired - the washer has gone out and LG refuses to help - considers the unit "too aged." Really!? AGED after just 5 years!? Considering both my cheap $300-400 washers were repair free for min of 10 and up to 20 years, I expected that paying nearly 4 times the money would get me something repair free for a long time. Instead, in just half the time, I am left with a costly repair (nearly as much as the cost of buying a less expensive machine when I called around for prices!) or needing to buy a new machine. And the other thing that really blows my mind is I live in Los Angeles (probably one of their biggest markets) and the closest service provider is over an hour away and part of the reason why a service call would be so expensive. LG's attitude didn't help. What ever happened to any of your cases? Anything good or helpful to share?

Thanks for the info. The slimy mud dried out mostly by the next day. When I stuck my finger a couple inches in the soil it just felt cool/damp but not wet so I'm assuming that means it's draining well? When I started the soil was dry like cement as you described. Now it's a more loose & workable. I live on a friend's property, they no longer have horses but do have llamas. She said their poop (which looks like lima beans) makes great fertilizer so I'll gently work some "Llama beans" into the soil in the next week or 2. Somebody pointed out that it sounded like I was "loving" the raspberries to death so I'm going to leave them alone for now and only water them every 2-3 days instead of daily. As far as the peppers go I had no idea about the frost thing. My friend planted her tomatoes the same time as I planted my peppers and her plants are growing no problem.... so maybe over watering is/was part of the problem too? I think I'll just dig up the dead plants and go buy a couple of new ones from Lowe's acclimate them over a whole week instead of only a day and then see how they do once planted. Luckily my strawberry & zucchini plants seem to be holding up ok so I guess that makes my garden only a 50% failure LOL

I can think of no better situation that demonstrates how an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Except, it's a fraction of an ounce of prevention that's worth tens of pounds of cure. Careless/naive PC and internet use leads to problems, it's guaranteed. It's an easily avoidable problem. With a little common sense and following a few basic ideas that avoid the most likely risks (as mentioned in my first comment), no one will ever need concern themselves with having to fix such a ridiculous and easily avoidable situation as poor Pawprint had to face.

Jon seems to be, as of this morning, more on the ball and handling this situation better. It's a shame I have had to put in so much energy...emails, calling my credit card, etc.... His last few emails, he has for sure been nicer! That's a plus. I'd love to see his company grow & prosper....but they need to lower shipping costs and actually ship when a customer orders and gets billed. He says I should receive my order soon. Fingers crossed.

I have used Roxio for years and have no trouble uninstalling it.

owbist ... my laptop is vista x86...the program was purchased at Best Buy and worked perfect without any problems for a year until Kaspersky found it to be vulnerable at which time I tried to download the update from roxio's web site and was informed I received a trojan which was taken of. The reason I wanted uninstalled was to possibly get the updated needed when reinstalling.

The only error message I am getting when trying to reinstall is "uninstall is incomplete"....that's it...nothing else.

If possible I will wait to use Revo until I see if you are able to make heads or tails out of this uninstall. thanks everyone.

I would bet that something is starting up at boot up and there fore that can not be uninstalled unless you go into msconfig and make sure you turn off every bit of roxio from starting up, you can control what starts up on your pc using REVO also it has a component for that also if you go read the user guides for it on the site they have excellent guides for each component.
Have you tried your uninstall in safe mode?

Raven, I used Revo once and did not know what to do with the stuff if found in the registry. Do you trust it enough to delete it all?

If v10 is anything resembling v9 there is no entry in the startup. However, there are numerous entries on the service tab which I personally have stopped. Most are identified with Roxio included in the name. All are from Sonic Solutions.
