Dana... My 3 year old Electrolux dryer used to make the popping noise also. Unrelated I had to replace the water injector and spray nozzle that puts a mist of water into the drum for the "Steam" feature. I had to take the top and back panel off to access the parts I had to replace. I don't know why but it must be the back panel that expands and makes that popping noise because it no longer makes that noise since I took it off and put it back on. I actually didn't take it fully off. Since its on a pedestal and the back panel connects to the pedestal I was lazy and just left it attached and just flexed the mettle so I could access the parts. It no longer makes that pop noise. This is what I replaced...I also replaced the mister that's in the dryer drum, just in case that some how rusted closed. Maybe slightly flexing the metal fixed the popping action when the metal heats up.

Came here this morning and found my post had totally fallen off the radar scope. lol Thank you very much for responding.....and good to know I'm not the only one with this problem! Right about now I Don't care how attractive or unattractive a solution looks....I am just tired of walking by the fridge and seeing that area get darker and darker each time I walk by. I understand your solution about putting a paper towel over the tray and as soon as I get the tray soaked and put back today, that's what I'll do. But I don't quite understand the Zip-Lock bag creating a slide for the water? Do you tape the zip-lock bag to the back of the paddle? If not, how do I make sure the zip-lock doesn't get in the way of the water coming out? OK, do you happen to have a pic of your solution? :) This morning when I went to pour my cuppa, I seriously thought about scrubbing all the areas really well and then coating them with WaterLock or some other sealer. I didn't get to the tray/dispenser area other day and this morning it looks really nasty...yuck. I'm thinking that guests popping in (which they do quite often to visit my Mom and Dad) won't even want to use the dispenser thinking that I've never, ever cleaned it...that's how bad it looks after a few days.

Most places have great water. Some places don't. And that's hopefully something you know about if you live there. It could be organic contaminants (e.g. pesticides, drugs, solvents, ...), it could be minerals (e.g. hard water, "dirty" iron deposits, ...), it could be other industrial inorganic contaminants (e.g. heavy metals, nitrates, ...), it could be biological contaminants (e.g. viruses, bacteria, ...), it could be radon gas, or it could be harmless nuisance impurities (e.g. chlorine smell, sand, ...). Some of these are more likely in municipal water supplies, others are more common in local wells. If you know what you are concerned about, then you can look for the appropriate type of filter. Quite frequently, a big activated-charcoal cartridge takes care of things. And that's the most commonly sold filter you'd get. But for other types of contaminants, charcoal is going to do zilch. Also, it really depends on whether this is just a nuisance contaminant or whether there are real health risks associated with it. If in doubt, have the water tested by a lab. The supply in your house might very well have different water than the one your neighbor has, because internal piping materials differ.

My Whirlpool refrigerator's (GSS26C4XXY04) water dispenser stops dispensing water a couple hours after replacing/reinstalling the water filter. If I remove the water filter, water comes out normally. I have to remove the filter, submerge it in water for 20 min, plug it back in, then the water dispenser would work normally for a couple of hours but then it would stop. The ice maker also stops making once the water stops working. Do I have a leak somewhere that's letting air get into the lines? Or is something else wrong with the fridge? The fridge uses Whirlpool EveryDrop Filter 1 (EDR1RXD1)
