Great pictures! Thanks for the pictorial story - I felt like I was there. We have two large tents ourselves, but we haven't been camping for two years now, and our camping season is pretty much all year. In the winter, we like to go to Death Valley or Anza Borrega where it's too hot to go other times of year. We stopped camping in Sequoia/Kings' Canyon because we got tired of being chased by bears and badgers. Last year we saw a young mountain lion early one morning, but at least we didn't get chased, since we were in a car.

It's interesting that you get surf on the lake. It looks a bit like the surf at Galveston!

Loved your photos Annie ! Looks like you had a wonderful time there and the water is lovely and inviting, although I guess now it's too cold for swimming.

I imagine the little ones really enjoyed sleeping in the tent! I know my grandkids love the idea when we go to my brother's lakeside home, but as they are afraid of bears coming in the night, they end up sleeping in the house and only do tenting in enclosed campgrounds.

Thanks for posting these! It was like being there myself.

Annie, I know I've told you this before but I just have to say it again. Thanks for sharing your life with us. It really is a good one ;-) For as many times as I've said "I do not camp", I think I'd enjoy tagging along with you on your annual camping trip. Looks like alot of fun!

I think my favorite picture is the sister picture, although, the family picture runs a close second. Annie, How is Buds head bigger than Makaylas?! I noticed that in the family picture. LOL! He's a biiiig boy!!

Annie, your pix are wonderful. But don't say the camping season is over, because mine is just beginning. I am leaving today for a similar trip. OK, so I can't swim. I can still walk along the beach in my sweatshirt, long pants, and raincoat. LOL. I would love it to be warm and dry, but I have to take what I can get. We have decided not to put the camper in storage this year so we can camp into November. Lots of great camping left if you have a camper, although DH and I did a tent camping trip one year for a month out west, with temperature sometimes in the 20's. If you got a good sleeping bag, you stay warm. I don't mind preparing a hot breakfast in the cold with a winter coat on, lol. I will try to take pix of my trip, but I don't usually, so don't hold your breath.

I second what Barnmom said, you are creating wonderful memories with your girls and grandkids, things they'll remember doing with you forever. The beach and sand look inviting but the water looks a tad cold. Love the sunset pix. Great pix (except none of you - whassup with that!), made me feel like I was there too.

Lars, that isn't really even surf, it's just The Lake with a thunderstorm coming in. In the fall and spring we can get breakers 10 or 12 feet tall, they regularly wash tourists off piers (who go out there in spite of the signs to the contrary) who then drown in the undertow. Lake Michigan is actually a small fresh water ocean, complete with waves, breakers and tides.

Gina, I take the pictures and it's pretty darned hard to take pictures of myself.

Pam, I didn't know I was supposed to take pictures of toes until AFTER I got back, then I found out.

Iris, you wouldn't want me to lose the Cat from H*ll in the woods, now would you?

Annie, don't let them fool you. Galveston only wishes it had a beach that nice. I lived on the beach in Galveston for 4 years and there is no way I would ever mistake those pictures for that place. Looks like y'all had a really nice time on the camping trip. Thanks for sharing it with us.

dlynn, lake Michigan has some darned fine beaches and this isn't even one of the best ones, but it's private, it's small, it's pretty much empty. WonderWeiner can run around without a leash and play in the waves. We like it a lot.

Maybe someday I'll get to Galveston, but I can tell you, it's every bit as nice as the beach at my ex in-laws in Pensacola, with colder water but no sharks or jellyfish. (grin)

Odo sleeps in every position he can. But usually curled up in the "dachsie donut" unless it's hot, then he gets on his back to air out the "jewels".

What a fun end of summer memory! I feel like I've had a mini-vacation just reading along with your pictures, Annie. I love the pix of the grandkids, especially the sleepy-time ones. Sol, that campground is in Ludington, or right outside of Ludington, just a bit south in a small Township campground called Buttersville.

Yeah, I'll be up for it next year, maybe next year won't be so hectic with college and fencing and everything that went on this year. Maybe I can actually stay a couple more days too!
