To add or remove some AVG Free components, such as e-mail scanner plugins, please proceed as follows: * please download the latest AVG installation installation file from the Download section of our website * When you are prompted, please do not open this file directly from the Internet, but click the "Save" button and choose a location where the installation file should be stored. We recommend saving the file to the Desktop. * Locate the downloaded AVG installation file (it has a four color square icon and its name starts with AVG...) and launch the installation by double-clicking on it. * The installation process recognizes the existence of installed AVG and the Add/Remove Components option is offered. Reinstalling and using the Add/Remove Components option is necessary for example in the case that there is a new supported e-mail client (MS Outlook/The Bat!) installed on the PC after the first installation of AVG Free. For those who aren't thrilled with Link Scanner or those who may just want to see how well AVG operates without it, it is not necessary to delete and reinstall. Double click on the icon appearing in the Notification Area/System Tray>In the appearing interface double click on the Link Scanner component>Uncheck the Enable the AVG Search-Shield (need web browser restart)>Click Save changes. I do not remember if a restart is required. I am sure AVG will advise if necessary. DA

Tom, To reassure you that a DUN connection is OK with AVG: I am a rural America resident on an antique DUN with a download speed of 5kb/sec. (Laughing is now allowed) I use AVG on this Vista system and Avast on a Win98 system out in the garage. Updating is not a concern with either application. They are rarely over perhaps 200kb unless I have been negligent as I do them manually. There is a time once in a while when application upgrades are released and the download takes a while; perhaps 15-20 minutes. As far as downloading the application itself, any time I have something of size I do it first thing on a Sunday morning. Even before shower and coffee. By the time the rest of the world is up I am finished. Patience is a virtue. :) DA All in all I have to say no problem.

Windows Vista 64-bit here, and no problems. I do keep getting a notice to update to AVG Canada 2011, however, but I haven't done it. It doesn't seem to be a usual update.
