I'm noooooo expert here! But I recently have had some experience and I could possibly offer advice. Sounds to me that this could be canker infecting your cuttings. Canker is a nasty Springtime ailment. It occurs when fungal spores get into the open wounds on roses and infect them, turning them black. Sorry to say, but depending on the damage to your cuttings, they could well be ruined. Even if they start to produce, they may not produce the best bushes in the long run. I'd wager any bushes from them would be weak. But that's my guess. In future, when you make cuttings you can help minimize spored damage by making sure you cut a diagonal, and always cut near a leaf node so that the cutting has a chance to calcify there. You might be able to save the cuttings if you have enough healthy stem left on them though. Someone else could probably tell you better. Currently, I am experimenting on the use of Elmers glue on the pruning sites, I know this helps to prevent cane borers, and I'm curious to see if it will also prevent canker infections. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was finally able to boot the PC up and retrieve my files. Mikie I didn't have a CD in but I think that it was trying to boot from one. I read that I could boot up from the Windows XP disc if I changed the settings by hitting F1 when trying to boot the PC. When I went into setup, it appeared to have already been set to boot from the disc and I wasn't inserting the disc. I'm not sure how this setting could have gotten changed (the computer was working fine last week)or if maybe I read the settings wrong in setup, but I changed it to boot from the HD and it booted right up. I am definitely ordering an external HD enclosure. Thanks again for the help!

I have two laptops, xp & vista. From time to time I get the same error. I've never been able to solve it. From web searches I have noticed lots of people get the same error and adobe keeps trying to fix it, yet hasnt.

Although your posts date back a couple of years, I happened upon them this weekend when faced with the same problem. While waiting for Sirdar to respond to my query, I think I have found a solution that I can share with any future troubled knitters. I tried a swatch using a multiple of four simply following the repeated segment each way. The result resembled the relevant segment in the photo. (So there is no need to offset it by two as suggested by the knitting advisor. So how to translate this to the sweater itself?! I think the first 2 rows actually worked as written, but the bottom line is to use markers to indicate the stitches which will remain after all the decreasing. For me that was 39 stitches " the smallest size. When I got to the marker on the right side I started the P1 K3 pattern. On the return, when I got to the marker I had to start with the last 3 stitches of the pattern, so that after the first three stitches I was ready to begin the P1 k3 of the second row (39 minus 3 =36 which is a multiple of 4). Just to help keep me on track when I was finished the armhole shaping I used a marker to mark 36 (the largest multiple of 4) so on each even row when I got to the marker I started the repeat. This worked very well. For the decreasing at each end in the first few rows I kind of played it by ear, kind of counting down from 4 to fill in the correct stitches. This part will be so subtle you could just knit both ways.
