decent double wall ovens other than Electrolux?
Comments (7)Ginny20 -- We shared your concerns re: Kenmore double wall ovens (although issues like overheating during self-cleaning seem to plague a number of brands). The only extended appliance warranty we bought for our kitchen remodel was for the double wall ovens. It's been a few months now and they have worked flawlessly -- including the self-cleaning feature. Still, I'm glad we bought 3 years of protection for the peace of mind. Re: self-cleaning issues -- they all seem to involve overheating of the electronic circuitry due to the high temps used. Our GC has a theory about this that I haven't read anywhere so I thought I'd pass it along. Overheating according to him can be a result of poor design or venting, but often why one double wall oven overheats and another of the same model does not has to do with what surrounds the ovens. If it is interior wood cabinetry, it doesn't have the thermal capacity to absorb excess heat. In contrast, our pre-existing wall oven surround was brick (which we veneered in stone) located on an exterior wall. Our GC doubted it would ever overheat because the brick is an excellent heat absorber. Just one more thing to think about....See MoreGe Mongram double wall ovens vs Electrolux Icon Pro
Comments (0)Hi, Just new to this site and have found all the information very helpful. I have read alot of comments about the electrolux double wall oven being small inside. this concerns me as I do alot of entertaining and don't want to use one oven soley for one turkey. Could I get feedback from anyone who has the GE monogram double wall oven? Is it reliable, any problems with cleaning and use? How hard are the gliding racks to remove?(model xet2rmss). I am building new house and find it hard to find the right appliances. At first it was choice btwn Electrolux and Kitchenaid. My appliance dealer swears by Kitchenaid - says more reliable, however I like the looks of electrolux better. I am however going with K.A. 36" induction cooktop as it is flat with no edges like electrolux so easier to clean. the G.E. mongram double wall oven seems like it will match with the Electrolux french door fridge. any comments would be most helpful...See MoreElectrolux or Miele double wall oven? Is there really a differenc
Comments (14)During my kitchen renovation I went to my friends' house MANY times to use her Electrolux to bake. I didn't do anything fancy in it - just convection baking of cookies and baked oatmeal. I didn't have any problems baking 3 trays of cookies at a time and the shelves that glide out so easily were handy. I've been baking in my Miele oven since June. It consistently bakes cookies, cakes, pies, etc evenly. Before using the Miele, I didn't think there was much difference between ovens, but I've changed my mind. My 2nd wall oven is a KitchenAid, and although it does a nice job, it doesn't compare to the Miele. What is the price difference between Miele and Electrolux? Would you use the rotisserie or the other program modes? I'm not sure what extra programs the Miele has that the Electrolux doesn't, but if you're not planning on using them, I think the Electrolux would be fine. If you live close to one of Miele showrooms, you can go to a MasterChef demonstration or a Product Cooking Presentation. It might be helpful in your decision. I've had no problem with Customer Service. We bought our Miele oven and vent off the showroom floor (with great discounts). They started the 2-yr. warranty the day they were installed. I've dealt with customer service twice (something minor) and they were quick to respond both times. But, the reason for that may be that we need to call Miele first because it is under warranty, but then Miele calls the appliance store where we bought the appliances and the store sends one of their Miele repairmen. (A strong argument for buying from a reputable appliance dealership.) We were kind of locked into buying the Miele oven because we wanted an oven under our Miele induction cooktop and (of course) Miele would only recommend their own oven under the cooktop. (Probably for warranty purposes.) If we experience any problems with the Kitchenaid, and depending how much I think I'll be using a 2nd oven at that time, we'll most likely look for a Miele to replace it, especially if we can find another floor model for sale. IF the price difference were too big, I would definitely consider an Electrolux. Good luck on your search. Comments (1)A similar situation with no oven Thanksgiving through Christmas with brand new range and oven. This was after 7 months of tinkering and (non)fixing. It was a different brand and eventually they bought them back as they never could get them to work. It was one of the most frustrating things. My sympathies are with you....See Moremacraem
